Porter to.........Villanova???

so.... Xavier is hiring Richard Pitino not Villanova...

That would make more sense. Villanova is a top-10 job...top-15 at worst. Pitino did a solid job at New Mexico, but did not elevate Minnesota and lost his job there. And while the circumstances are different, 5 consecutive head coaches led Oklahoma to the Sweet 16 or beyond. It doesn't make sense they would be interested in the OU coach who hasn't accomplished that yet. Chris Collins has been another coach linked to Villanova...he has never been to the Sweet 16 as a head coach. I have to believe Villanova is setting their sights higher than coaches with relatively average resumes.

He’s coached at Marquette and Va Tech and obviously exceeded expectations. I don’t think that’s a stretch to say he could be a good fit.

Nova is taking so much time, the later they make their pick, the program the loses their coach to them will be in a mess trying to portal in and
keep their own players from leaving. Is that the only top job still open?

Yes, but if they hire a sitting ncaa head coach then good chance it opens others. Rumors still circulating that Arizona State might open, obviously not a top job but would be a power 4 opening late in the cycle.

According to Trilly when someone asked if they could count out Moser for the Nova role or any other coach:

"Can't count (out)) anyone anymore tbh. Moser was told no, I have good sources on that, but in theory they could circle back."

Also, apparently a Nova source said:

"Was also told that Moser was never really a strong candidate and he only had 1 zoom meeting with nova last week"

So he at least zoomed.

His agents are good. But Trilly is actually a good tool for ADs, because he can report on stuff without any accountability.

Hopefully Joe C. saw this for what it was. But will likely give him a raise and extension.

So for the posters who complain when other posters speculate about him leaving … this is why. He clearly is shopping around, so it’s not like we are just making stuff up. And also shows that while he clearly is open to leaving, he likely doesn’t have many (any?) big time programs interested, despite some of you saying that he is very highly regarded nationally.

Yeah he's going to have to string together another tournament season to go to another P4 school.

I’m sure waiving the buyout would help, even if incrementally.

But would agree; if basketball-first programs are not willing to pay the full amount, it suggests Moser is seen outside of the top caliber.

Not saying people are saying he’s in that top tier TBC, I’ve never gotten that impression from reading the message board (or that people are upset that it’s speculated he wants out lol, it seems pretty clear there’s some desire to move on his side).

some rumors are somewhat believable ....others are not.
nova? sure...it's a better job than pm has now. depaul? not buying it.
pm has a big contract with a big buyout....he knows not just anyone is going to be willing/able to make it work.
and btw...most of the time.....rumors = making stuff up.
