Porter to.........Villanova???

Alabama wasn’t competitive in basketball until it started investing in basketball. Same with Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, etc. See a common theme?
Fraction of what they spend in football.

With McCollum, Wade and Odom going elsewhere, Moser leaving now would be catastrophic.

We might really end up with a Crutchfield or someone similar.
We were never going to entertain Wade and honestly, didn't want Odom.

McCollum should have been at the top of the list, but may have still chosen Iowa given his roots.

Really don't understand the Kellen hate. Would it be risky? Sure. But if OU football can continue to hire HC's with no previous HC'ing experience (literally 6 of our last 7 going back to Switzer), OU basketball sure as heck isn't above doing the same.

I'm not sure Kellen would come or be interested. He's got a good thing going at Houston with Kelvin. Winning at a high level. Coaching with people he's close to. Having family all in the same place. He may not come. And I think he was a better fit, possibly, when Kruger retired. Feels like now might not be the best time to hire a first time HC. I think we could have gotten away with it 4 years ago. You hire Kellen for the upside. You hire Kellen b/c you hope he's 85% of what Kelvin is as a coach. The guy has been around winning basketball pretty much his entire life. There is value in that. Doesn't mean he'll 100% be a great HC. But OU is going to look really stupid if we don't even consider Kellen and one day he takes over at Houston and has a great career.

We already screwed up by not hiring McCasland instead of Moser. I'd still give him a call. It's not likely he'd be interested, or that OU could afford him but you never know until you call.

Also, what about Buzz Williams? Has the smoke about him leaving aTm died down? I'd take him in a heartbeat as well.

Ou needs to get as far away as possible from hiring "ou guys" and instead, simply ask itself, "are we hiring the best candidate we can get?" That's it. Kellen would be a disaster

You've made it known you don't like Kellen. And that is fine. Seems personal which is kind of weird.

Just because hiring some OU guys hasn't worked out, doesn't mean there aren't examples of it working out.

ZERO proof or support that hiring Kellen would be a disaster. I'd be shocked if that were the case.

Just hiring a guy that's never been a HC anywhere at all (heck, doug gottieb has more HC exp than kellen), especially given the state of the program, bc he was merely the son of a great OU coach would be the most ou thing ever

Is football THAT different? Because we'd one a hell of a lot of that in football.

And stop selling Kellen short. He isn't some random son of Kelvin that has been toiling around in college basketball. Plenty of articles from years ago about him being on the list of good young assistant coaches. And he's been the lead assistant at one of the top college programs over the last decade. Kelvin said a few years ago that Kellen lead most of the recruiting and handled a lot of the practices. He isn't some bystander, he's an active participant in Houston's success.

We can't say on this board that assistants matter, point to the guys Lon lost and even Moser, then not give Kellen credit. Doesn't mean he'll make a great HC. But he deserves a shot somewhere if he wants it. Personally, I think he's happy with his current situation. Not sure he'd come to OU if offered. The Houston job is his at some point, and it won't be a rebuild.

If we're trying to avoid ex-OU guys, let's get rid of Hump. He's terrible.

I think Kellen would be great. I have heard that he would not take the job, though.
