Possible recruit Dorain Pickens

Would-be a great start to 2014 recruiting class.

Grabbing mediocre 3 star rcruits is not going to win us the big 12 or lead us into the final four. We need 4 star recruits and the best players from our home state. Everything else is mediocre.

I don't care about stars. Get me players that are winners and talented that work hard and stars mean crap. Transfers, juco, hs it doesn't matter!

Good god, please stop.

That video didn't do him any favors. Didn't show him dribbling or handling the ball very much. Didn't show much outside shooting, or hustle plays, steals, floor dives or anything that didn't look like hundreds of other videos touting a hundred other prospects.

The more stars, the better they are as players. Seems like only this OU baskeball board is satisfied with mediocre players. It's what makes this program mediocre, our fanbase settling for 3 stars and our coach not being able to sell his pitch to players.

Not bad, though I would be careful about overfishing in such a short period of time. You will scare off all the fish. You might want to rotate spots to keep the fish fully stocked.

Yeah because all 4 and 5**** are superstars and they are the ones that win all the time. BUtler, WSU, FGC, etc... etc... Belmonts, Zags still don't get 5 stars...

Get a life you troll.

I can make the same point about the programs that get 4 and 5 stars too. Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Duke etc. also I'm not a troll, I love Lon krugers plan, it's just that plan could be working if he could recruit better. Jut saying.

Are you aware that recruiting 5-star players has never really been Kruger's calling card? Did you expect his M.O. to be different at OU than it's been at the other schools where he's coached?

And would you be happy with Tubbs- and Sampson-level success? Because neither of them, with only an exception or two, got the top-level recruits. But they were good coaches and got the most out of their players.

You need only look to the Capel years to see that signing McDAA's is no guarantee of success. Me, I'll take the three-star guys that feel as though they have something to prove and work hard on the court (and in the classroom) every time over some kid who's been told he's the greatest thing since sliced bread so often that he's come to believe it.

If your enthusiasm is dependent upon the signing of 4**** and 5***** recruits, then your enjoyment of Oklahoma basketball will be greatly constipated.

Questions:

1. How highly rated was Spangler as a recruit?
2. Who on the current roster was the most highly rated by the gurus?

Glad you love Lon Kruger! Have you followed him at all?
4-5 star guys aren't committing all the time. Every now and then sure but dream on sunshine.

Give me Burger King guys!

Those guys are on a different level. Always have been, always will. Fact is fact.

If its not his calling card then why is he going for 5 and 4 star recruits. Myles turner, Julius randle, Dante Buford, Dorian Pickens, Stevie Clark, emmaniel mudiay etc. he's going for big recruits, he just can't get it done. I believe in Kruger and I'm excited. But I'm also not blind and am worried that we'll be left behind in a very competitive big 12 with 3 star recruits. I'm not saying we should never go for 3 star recruits, I'm saying we need to sprinkle in a few high caliber guys to get in Kansas, Texas and sadly OSU's level.

OU was 3-3 against those schools last season. I'm guessing that they will go 3-3 again this coming year. Try again.
