Post depth

Cole and Mankin don't need to be compared to the top 3 or 4 on any Big 12 team rotation, they need to be compared to players that rarely see the court. They are the 5th and 6th options are OU and if everyone was eligible they would be the 7th and 8th options.

If Thomas isn't eligible and mcnease redshirts then one out of Cole and Mankin is our 4th post option. The other our 5th

I realize that but it is very unlikely that will happen. OU will not likely redshirt McNease if Thomas isn't eligible and might not redshirt him if he is eligible.

You guys have a lot more faith in McNeace than I do.

Did you actually see McNeace play last year, or are you going by what you saw when he was a junior?

Either way, my thoughts are the same as BoulderSooner. They are based almost entirely on a lack of confidence in Cole and Mankin. If, God forbid, one of our top three post players goes down to an injury, I would not want to put the rest of our season in their hands as the third option at the post.

Keep in mind that a player who has been a disappointment to me so far is in my top three. So, if one or both of those two can't cut it and Bennett doesn't step up to the plate, our season could be in big trouble. I still believe D. J. will be a decent third option. I'm just not as confident as before.

You may be right about Jamuni. He may not be ready to contribute his first year. But, I would rather see him at least get a chance to prove himself, than to trust a walk-on and a third year player who haven't proven much of anything yet.

Good thoughts Ada!

What's y'alls order? Without Thomas: Spang, Lattin, Bennett, McNease, Cole?

If Thomas is not eligible we will need Ryan to play close to 35 minutes and Lattin to grow up quickly and play starter minutes. I really cant see Bennett being productive in more than 15 minutes a game. But, I hope I am dead wrong.

I would still put Cole ahead of McNeace because he is older, stronger and more experienced. That would also relieve Jamuni of any pressure he might feel, and allow him to work his way into the rotation gradually.

Everything I have said is meaningless if Thomas gets his waiver. I'm all for redshirting McNeace, if at all possible. Campbest, CoachTalk and others are right in that a redshirt season would allow him to work on his game and add some much-needed weight to his slender frame.

Spangler Banger, Lattin, Bennett, Mankin, McNeace, Hield, Booker, Cousins, Walker, Woodard, Slate, Harper, Fraschilla, trainers with eligibility, those guys that work with women's team, a intramural player or 2, and then Cole. Obviously, I'm exaggerating but not by much.

Hey, Cole had four points and three boards on Monday! That's four points and one rebound more than Bennett managed, and in just two more minutes played than DJ.

I'm going to predict right now that TT is going to get his waiver. If the answer was no it would have already been delivered.

It won't surprise me if they wait another few weeks. Make him sit until after Thanksgiving. Then let him play.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if Lattin got a lot of minutes in the first game or two but OU will need Thomas in the Bahamas.

Haven't seen him play since he got to OU, but I was able to watch him 4-5 times his senior year at Allen...pre-season, district and their run in the playoffs. Lots of potential, just not ready for Big XII basketball. He is a textbook red-shirt candidate, and would argue, he could grow more in a red-shirt year than playing against opposition.

Jamuni will RS. Cole is smarter and better than Jamuni right now.

In that case, I yield to your assertion that Jamuni should redshirt this season. You have seen him play in person a lot more than my limited exposure in two televised practice sessions. From what I was able to see, he has a high upside, but he may not be ready to put it on display in his first year at the D-1 level.

Like I said earlier, there is no doubt that he would benefit from a RS season to work on his game and add 20 pounds or more in Yo Yo's strength and conditioning program. If he's truly not ready, it would be a shame to waste a year of eligibility while he sits on the bench.
