Surprised we haven't had a thread like this already.

So, let's hear it. We've played our exhibition games. We know Hamilton is leaving. We know who the current group of starters are. We know the schedule. Give me your guesses for:

Out of conference games record -

Conference games record -

Overall record -

Postseason accomplishments, if any -

Who is our best overall player this year -

Non Conference: 11-2
Conference:10-8
Big12 tourney: 1-1
Ncaa: 0-1
Overall: 21-12
Best player: Hield

I see record being very similar to last year, but style of play very different and more exciting and erratic. I would bet some games we'll be certain sweet 16 will be achieved and other days where .500 looks like the outcome. I think they will finish the year out playing well and give us excitement for the years to come.

I had the same records as you and basically most of the same thoughts. I just hope we are a fun team to watch, stay away from any significant injuries and compete hard no matter who we are playing.

Non-Conf: 11-2
Conference: 11-7
Big 12 Tourney: 1-1
NCAA: 0-1
Overall: 23-11

A lot of winnable games on our schedule. We just need to stay healthy in the front court.

12-1 non con
12-6 con
2-1 big 12
2-1 ncaa
24-7 regular season
28-9 over all ..

Non-conf: 10-3
Conference: 10-8
Big 12: 1-1
NIT: 2-1

Overall: 23-13

Best overall player: Buddy Hield

hard to predict the overall record, but 22 wins sounds about right.

I'll steal baseball's post-season awards and predict the following:

MVP - Cam Clark
Most improved - Cousins
ROY / Newcomer - Woodard

I think we win 22-24 games. We don't have a ton of size inside which may hurt us a bit. But the Big 12 is very much a guard oriented conference still and we will match up well against a lot of Big 12 teams for that reason.

I meant to respond to this earlier. These are always difficult, b/c even if you have a good handle on OU, you still don't know what the other teams are going to be like.

OOC - 11-2
Conference - 11-7

Probably win a game in the Big 12 Tourney, get something around a 8-10 seed. Might win one in the NCAA Tourney, depending on matchups. Overall, very similar to last year.

I think at the end of the day, this team is going to be pretty comparable to last year. Might have a slightly better record, b/c our OOC schedule is significantly easier. So after the regular season, I expect us to probably be 1-3 games better than the previous season. I worry about our post offense, and depth. I think we'll struggle to rebound against big teams (did last year too). And I think there will be games where we don't hit much of anything from outside. I also expect, like last year, to see us press A LOT LESS come Big 12 time. You just can't press the good teams in our conference all game long. They will beat you for layups, and you will lose.

Welcome aboard.

Your position seems to have evolved. Good for you.

Not really. That was about what I was saying last year. Not sure if our team is actually better this year, as a whole, but the schedule should allow them to appear at least equal, if not better, to last year's team. I'll be curious to see what our OOC SOS is this year, compared to last. But I think that is pretty similar to what I was saying at the end of last year. I still raised the same issues above. Depth. Post scoring. Rebounding against bigger teams. Inconsistent shooting from the outside.

I will say that Hield's three point shot looks considerably better this year, at least, in the one game I saw. If he and Hornbeak can be reasonable from out there, we should be adequate. Can't judge that on one game though.

But I'm certainly optimistic about our future. That's been true since LK took over though. Dude builds consistent winners. It's what he does well.
