Predictions for 2016-2017 Season

You and I are on the same page. This team is not going to get substantially better until we do two things: 1) have players who would start for Baylor and 2) improve their defense substantially.

Right now, we have no one who would start for the Bears (probably Texas either) and our defense is mediocre.
 
What do most of you think the problems have been since our last Final Four? Coaching, recruiting, player development, mixture of a couple of things?

Recruiting is the main issue for sure. Player development has suffered and I think players and coaches share responsibility. In the off season coaches have to give each player a list of requirements for that player to improve. Players must comply with those requirements. Strength and conditioning coaches must monitor the players improvement, or lack there of, and report to the coaches regularly. Players must push each other to make sure they all meet or exceed what the coaches expect.

I noticed that when OU men beat Oregon, some of the Oregon players wept. I believe they wept because of the blood and sweat they had invested in a final four and it hurt so bad when they fell short of that goal. I don't recall seeing Sherri's guys crying after the loss to Kentucky. It made me wonder if they had invested the same amount of hard work and dedication into making another final four as Oregon did.
 
Very good points. Recruiting needs to pick up, obviously. I hope Sherri demands excellence from her players and the players should demand the same from the coaching staff.

Most of it has been an inability to outscore our opponents in the games we lost. Sometimes that was a result of poor shooting and other factors in not enough offense, and other times it was because the other team shot far better than in an average game for them or found other ways to outscore us.

If we could have outscored the opponents in 5 or 6 more games each year our records would have been far better each year, we would have gotten into several sweet 16's and even a few final fours. Then we would be excited about the team instead of wondering why we have struggled.

So, its pretty simple. Just win more games. Winning is the key.
 
Just as a curiosity, are any of you OU fans rude enough to go to the Baylor boards and harass them?

No worry, Syb.

Every once in a while I like to check to see if they have the intelligence to get a joke. They consistently fail. It makes me feel kind of sorry for them. Perhaps that is why they have to spend time here since they have possibly been laughed off the other boards.
