This week in prep spotlight OUHoops.com takes a look at 2011 shooting guard Brandon Lucas out of Southmoore high.

Early next week we will be running another article featuring other local unsigned OKC kids who William Jennings has also contacted.

Is he OU level? Reminds me of a Eric Coley. Could he be like Godbold?

Oh yeah, and the Spangler kid OU passed on that signed with Gonzaga had 46pts 23rbds adn 6 blocks in a recent game.

I was trying to think of a comparison for Lucas and I think Coley is a great one. He definitely isn't a shooting guard at a high major but he could play a SF at a mid-major school and be a pretty good player, imo.

yeah, I think there is a spot for him on a high major team, like OU. OU's problem is they must hit some homeruns in recruiting. I don't think he's a homerun. Guerrero's a homerun, Eli Carter's a homerun. Jurick is a homerun, and if they get back in the mix with Michael Chandler, he's a homerun. Titus Ruble out of Independence in Kansas may potentially be a homerun.

The Spangler thing makes me absolutely sick. Did we show any interest in him at all?

He shoots the ball better than Eric.

I would say, growing up with Eric, I don't think he is quite the athlete or leaper Eric was.

Does he break in horses too? :)

Has anybody watched the Spangler kid and can you give us your assessment. I don't think I have seen him play. If I have, he didn't leave much of an impression.

Odd that Gonzaga would come all the way to Okie to get a player that nobody here seems to have seen play or know much about.

Like asked above, I would also be interested in knowing whether OU showed any interest.

By the way, how tall is he? If he is a tweener, then that might explain why OU didn't recruit him. We already have a few of those body types. We need centers and points, and not wings.

Not a lot of people are the athlete Eric was, doesn't mean he's not comparable.

Bookout.

Overall, I agree. I think he gets off the ground in a similar way. I don't think he moves laterally as well or is as fast on a straight line.

I wasn't saying he isn't a good comparison. I was just stating that I thought he shot it better but not as athletic.

As you said, not many people are.

I still would like to know if this guy rides horses like Eric. haha

Eric still does several rodeo events around the state.

If you watch Oklahoma HS basketball you know Spangler. He is 6'8, runs the floor really well, can shoot it from 3 really well, athletic and mean on the glass.
We will look back I think in 2 years and ask why we didnt push harder for him... and maybe they did, Im not sure...

Southmoore plays Midwest City (top 5 in the state) at home tonight, should be a good game.
