Nice honor and will be even better if he is first team in the end of season voting! I expect him to have a better season based on having learned the balance between looking for his offense but not forcing things. I think that was his biggest hurdle last year. And while he won’t shoot as high a percentage as he did at WSU because he will still take tougher shots, I think he will shoot better than last year.

Austin Reaves, lol

I was just thinking that it's ironic that opposing coaches respect Reaves more than some of this board's resident experts do, and you proved my point before I even got to make it.

Bingo. Was wondering myself if any of the other five guys on the list get half as much crap from their own fans as AR.

No. They get celebrated by their fans. But whatever. Most these guys are real fans.

Austin Reaves??? How can this be?? I thought he SUCKED, based on some of the experts on here!! LOL

I was laughed at in the past when i said Reaves has a chance to play in the NBA!!! The kid has SKILLS! Did he turn it over at times and forces too much?? Yes!! But anyone who knows basketball can tell this kid is on a different level than most....when he's on.

Austin Reaves shot 25% from 3 and 37% from the field... He's not an efficient player. I can't believe he is on the first team. They must have just seen a returning player averaging 15 a game and selected him.

Or, and stay with me here, they look at things other than shooting percentage, and also look at his career shooting numbers and think he will shoot better and be a better overall player with a year in our system under his belt.

Right. Those D1 coaches in the one of the toughest conferences in the country just aren't detail-oriented enough; all they know is what they read in the papers. If only they were as well informed as you are.

I take this as a sign the league talent is way down this year.

Great for him! He was playing really well the 2nd half of conference play when he was under control.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Brady Manek will be on the year-end first team, and Reaves will be on the second team. And I think Reaves will average 18+ ppg ... but Manek's going to average 16 and 8 and shoot 40% from three.

I honestly couldn't care less who on this board wants to crap on my opinion.

I was surprised not to see Manek among the preseason picks. I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen as you've described it.

Nobody in their right mind would pick Reaves over Manek. This is a snub for Manek and I don't know what to call it for Reaves.

Guards in the Big 12 this year I would take over Austin Reaves:

Jared Butler (Baylor)
MaCio Teague (Baylor)
Matt Coleman (Texas)
Andrew Jones (Texas)
Cade Cunningham (OSU)
Terrence Shannon (Texas Tech)
Kyler Edwards (Texas Tech)
Tyun-Grant Foster (Kansas)
Marcus Garrett (Kansas)
RJ Nembhard (TCU)
Rasir Bolton (Iowa State)

There are probably others... Look, I hate to say it, but Reaves just isn't that good. At least he wasn't last year. Maybe he turns out to be different this year. I don't like how he plays.... I don't like that Lon lets him do whatever he wants. I don't like that he put up about 30 air balls last year.

If he played more within himself he would be a lot better. He wouldn't average 15 a game, but he would be a more effective player.

He came to OU because he wanted a green light to do his Kobe thing... He all but said that in an interview. He was promised a green light, he got one. He had an insane game against TCU in the finale with a great play, but that doesn't make up for everything else.

Even Andy Katz was on his case all year... saying he takes horrible shots all the time..

Yup.
Don't worry about those who "crap on your opinion", or in other words, disagree.
