I don't care if Carl needed 16 shots to score 20 points, he played the game of his life tonight, and at a time when we needed someone (ANYONE) to score. He also contributed 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Well done, young man! :clap

Romero had 18 points and 10 boards; Fitz was solid with 12 points and 9 boards.

Too bad no one else on the team did much to help those three.

Have to really consider starting Blair. I believe at this time he gives us the offense over the TO's. I believe if he starts we win this game. Grooms has got to slow everything down and run this team....

Time to start Blair? At least teams won't play the Doug Gottlieb D against Blair hence clogging up the middle on Fitz/Osby.

Can't say I disagree, which means I'll have to eat my words. No big deal, though, I've done it before.

Blair played better defense tonight, and at least he's a threat to score.

Blair was in the game late at the point because we were down double digits and he can generate some offense on his own. Grooms couldn't hit his butt with a bass fiddle and what he does best we didn't need at that point.

After months of practice and a half season of games, Kruger is starting Grooms at the point because Grooms has proven to be the best point guard.

I'm sure that all of the clever observers were able to pick off that both earlier in this game and in the Kansas game some of Blairs best sequences came when Grooms was at the point and Blair was at the two. Pledger had rotated over to the three. Clark was on the bench.

Carl can do some things that Grooms apparently can not do. (score more than 5 pts.) And he can do some things that Pledger apparently can not do. (beat a defender off the dribble and get to the rim)

This team is sure mis-firing. And I don't think that they are as bad as they have looked. Kruger has limited options to shuffle around and make adjustments.

If Blair can continue to put up some offense, mayby it wouldn't be such a bad thing to give him some more minutes at the two. Mayby Pledger can get himself freed up alittle more from a different spot. Parking Cam sure doesn't look like it would cost much right now.

Blair has had a great attitude coming off the bench. He deserves more playing time. He was our bet guard tonight.

Remember he played these teams last year. That experience should mean something.

This is the third time around for Pledger. What's up with him? I thought that Paige hitting those threes would get his competitive juices flowing.

When the going gets tough and a team really D's him up he takes himself out the game by standing around. He made no effort tonight to get himself open, all he did was stand at the 3 point line.

lay off of Pledger a little he just need to work a little harder and move constantly around the picks and shoot just like Cade did. I think those few games last year he let Capels trick him in to thinking he was a point guard, that is why he thinks he can handle the ball getting himself in to trouble. All he needs to do is stick to what he knows best and that is shooting and creating his own shot.

A pg has to play defense also and how many chances do you give him at the cost of the team. Did you see Blair's defense have page on lock! It fell apart when they put Grooms on page he hit two quick 3's and got a couple of assist. You can take the horse to the water but you can't make him drink! The whole team needs to play with more heart and keep battling until the last second ticks off the clock.

I like that idea. Playing Pledger at the three would also take some of the pressure off in defending quicker twos. Cam's slump is killing us right now, so what do we have to lose?

Grooms is a fine defender and has been all season. He can defend 3 positions and is much better than Carl. Carl has gone from just terrible last season to much improved this season. His on ball defense is actually pretty darned good. I don't smoke what you seem to enjoy. But, have fun.

I do know we have enough to contend and make it to the tournament just look at Butler. We have more talent and players are more athletic our guys need to trust the coach, play better defense, play team ball relying on each other and BELIEVE.
That's the key to winning you have to work with what you have.

Please turn your computer in it is very clear you did not watch the game we played against cincy he let the player with the winnng basket score by running straight out of bounds as if he was saying excuse sir! I didnt mean to get in your way!

I don't have a problem with Blair getting more minutes, especially when the offense is struggling (or if Grooms himself is), but I still prefer him coming off the bench. Still think Grooms is the better option @ pg long term to keep turnovers down.

More concerned with getting some offense out of Neal or Clark...

I'm about done with cam and pledger just standing arond with the ball. Cade was twice the player pledge is

Yall are so busy looking at turnovers that you are over looking that a pg has to play defense. Also how do you let a small guy page play so far off of you. With this set up the other players will be contributing to the turnover stat and thats because it is so easy to shut grooms down. Just keep watching how the teams will be playing us in conference play. One last thing "It does not matter how you start the game its how you finish" if it is about the team it should not matter who starts just as long as we get the win or go down giving it our best shot.

I'm glad to see people starting to get off Blair's back. He did a decent job last year and people gave Grooms all the credit for our 9-1 start but now that Big 12 play is here Blair's experience, size and toughness as well as ability to shoot are showing and Grooms is showing why he was a juco player. He can't shoot, and it's killing Pledger because they don't help off of him.

Big 12 play is way different than playing non-conference creampuffs. Teams have been scouting reports and players like Grooms with glaring weaknesses get exposed.

If cam would wake the **** up, grooms would be great. He distributes the ball well

I was wrong about Cam not needing to show some fire out on the court. I'm worried about him, and he could use some of what Blair showed tonight. I've always been a big Blair fan and was proud of his effort tonight, along with Roe's (and Fitz). Wish the rest of the team showed that kind of effort tonight.

This must be the worst bunch of players ever to play D-1 basketball. :eddie187_jpg_xs:
