Article by William Jennings, local kid from Ardmore is considered by many to the best in the state regardless of class. He is down to OU and KU in recruiting.

Nino is one of the quickest guards that I have seen in person. Sign him up!

KU offered Nino over a month ago.

I don't think they see him as a pg.

They see him as a point guard who Self will call a combo guard like he LOVES. His best teams started/played 3 PG's together.

Dee Brown/Deron Williams/Luther Head
Russell Robinson/Sherron Collins/Mario Chalmers

Self doesn't really label his guards...he wants them all to play like a point and shooting guard. That's probably the thing I like most about his style of play.

Ardmore is a heavily vested OU town for the most part. And by heavily vested, I mean that he will get a BUNCH of pro-OU pressure that kids in the bigger cities (OKC/Tulsa) don't get. Sounds like KU is the school that he is favoring, but the longer that his recriting drags out, the more I think that OU has a chance. Either way, I wish him the best.

I totally agree. In fact, I think OU has a much better chance than some give them credit for.

Have a hunch he ends up at OU, as Cheno said, we have a much better shot than most think.

Remember coaching against this kid when was in the 7th grade, you could tell there was a lot of potential there.

He's a terrific prospect and worth the rating he receives. He's not pg material though.

I saw Nino this weekend playing in a tournament in OKC, Lighthouse, he is smooth, explosive, good shot and great basketball IQ. He looks to be about 6'2" and lean. reminds me of Hollis but bigger and stronger.

He's visiting KU during their Late Night. I fully expect him to commit to Kansas on that visit and soon after. Great that OU is the other team, but this kid is heading to Kansas.

He told William Jennings that he is waiting until after his high school season.

But I could see how an OSU fan would want him to choose KU over OU. I don't blame you because the kid is going to be a good player imo.

OSU fan? Haha, you have me mistaken for somebody else. Oh and by the way the kid is KU bound, but keep believing OU has hope.

My apologies. I thought you were an aggie.

I don't doubt that he likes KU a ton (the dude was wearing Jayhawk socks for goodness sake *barf*). My hope is that Toupee takes Paige and a 2011 PG prospect and that we get Nino by default.

If Nino really does wait until after this season (as he said last week) then it is not out of the realm that KU will be full.

Now this is something I agree with. I just don't want to waste my time wondering about a kid who has worn KU gear around to national events and reportedly constantly talks about KU. Until KU stops showing interest I see little hope here.

Now in fairness to Nino, Capel JUST got serious with him this summer while Darnell Jackson, Carl Henry, Eric Bossi and Danny Manning have been showing him some love since he was an eighth grader.

I don't think its a waste of anybody's time to try and persuade the top kid in the state to go to OU. I doubt Coach Capel and Coach Betts have given up, and thus, neither have I.

I have heard that this finally may be Carl's last year coaching in our state which is a great thing for OU and OSU. I am sick and tired of losing in state kids to Kansas.
