Defensively it was tough to watch this team during long stretches of the year - especially half court D.

Why not try a zone? OU is not as long as Baylor or Syracuse, but with a team like NDSU, who seem to want to shoot it from the paint as much as possible, why not try it - even as a change of pace?

I liked the pressure and it had something to do with the high % they shot from the floor, but in the last couple of minutes and maybe even in OT would a zone not have been at least an option?

I can't recall LK ever playing zone - did we play zone once this year? I think we might have done a 1-3-1 half court trap occasionally, but not often.

We played a lot of zone during the year......mainly because we couldn't defend in man coverage.

The biggest reason is b/c getting steals, and pressuring, was a big part of our offense. Especially early in the season. And playing a zone wouldn't give us those chances. Not to mention, we aren't going to be any better at a zone, when it was being taught during the season, and we were still switching between man and zone.

Plus, rebounding is more difficult out of a zone, and we were rebounding-challenged to begin with.

This team just needs to put the effort into learning and playing good man D. There is no reason they can't be fairly good at it. Especially with a few bigger bodies next year.

With no size and length on the back end along with our rebounding problems (not to mention how poor our guys are on closing on shooters) playing a zone may have exacerbated our problems as crazy as it sounds.

If one of the new guys coming in can play some decent defense the guards won't have to help the big guys so much. I think that will improve our defense a lot.
