1. Jordan Woodard is worth 5 points

2. Needed Lattin/James to step up, neither did, that was very disappointing.

3. Like the fight, just couldn't make open shots.

4. Sooners are in for a long year, honestly, they may not win 4 or 5 league games in a league that is deep with good teams (I hope I am totally wrong).

5. OU will improve but the competition will be better than what they have played.

6. LK won't let them get down on themselves, they just need to stay the course. He'll continue to coach them up and see what happens.

Pretty much agree with all of your points, but I don't want to get to the point where we start trumpeting moral victories. I want to see this team mature and start improving.....but I haven't seen much of either of those thus far.

I don't believe in moral victories either but improvement may not be registered in the win/loss record at the end of the day.

4 or 5 league games??? I'll take the over on those numbers.

The way I choose to look at it, is as frustrating as it is to already have 5 losses....it's not like we have been blown out of these games...even the Wisc game, we led a decent portion of that game. With a little luck...this team could easily be 9-2. I know...they're not...and we have 5 losses. But there's a difference between having 5 losses when you aren't even close...then 5 games where you could have won any or all of them.

I'm with you. I can't argue the other points but I still think we could win 7-10 conference games.

Buford and Strong make me physically ill.

Broken record but Buford's defense is truly horrendous. And Strong's jumper...

Granted, Strong had to play some tonight, but 2 TOs and 3 fouls in 11 minutes.

Neither guy should see floor in conference unless emergency.

Lattin and James are really tentative offensively. If I had to guess, I'd say they're really fighting a lack of confidence on the offensive end. But we've got to get more from them. Right now Odomes is our 2nd best player and we need him to be our 4th best player.

I loved the fight the team showed last night. It would've been really easy for them to get down on themselves after that abomination of a 1st half but they battled throughout. They just have to find a way to get some easy baskets. I think that's got to start on the defensive end.

James isn't tentative. He tried everything to get his game going. In the second half his spin moved to the basket was blazingly fast, he just could not finish it by making the shot.

I mean we've lost 2 overtime games and a couple other games by less then 5 points(?) and one loss to essentially a top 10 team on the road. Comimg in to this year I was thinking we were a tourney team. I still think that rings true but we just didn't close out games we shoulda won. This last one stinks because we didn't have Woodard. This team is filled with "good" players. To this point in their career though, none of them are "great" players.

Maybe James takes another step next year or towards the end of this year but I am a little disappointed in how he's played to this point.

Extremely disappointed in Lattin. He needed to really work on his game this last summer and I don't feel like he made as big of a jump as I was hoping.

Woodard is exactly where I thought he'd be.

Mcnease is leaps and bounds better then I thought.

Shepperd is shockingly good.

Mcgusty isn't contributing as much as I had hoped but the potential is there for the future.

Doolittle has been good.

Odomes has exceeded my expectations greatly.

We have a lot of good players. Just not one player that can TRULY take over a game.

That player is in Norman...just on the North side.

These next 2 years will be fun. This is a building year.

Lattin is not any good on the offensive end unless it is a dunk. Freeman isn't ready to play either end right now.

Question for the "coaches": Did the presence of Spangler down low and his ability to take up space and move people around, give Lattin more opportunity to move freely to the basket, both offensively and defensively? Will Polla bring that also?

Yep. We have "guys" but no "dudes".

May eventually emerge.

He passed up several shots shots a confident scorer would've taken. Indeed, they were shots he was taking last season. He did take the ball to the hoop a couple of times in the 2nd half, once when the ball fell right to him, but he clearly is not confident on the offensive end.
