Quinnipiac

I believe that OU's score was the highest in the NCAA tourney in several years.

I'll be shocked if we hit 70 against the Cardinal on Monday.

That's fine as long as they only score 69.

Stanford also had an offensive explosion, winning 73-60. They trailed 29-28 at the half, and the score was tied at 41 with about 13:50 left. Then, Northridge went 7:13 without a point, and Stanford got a fourteen point lead.

I've been thinking about it, and I don't think we will score 111 against Stanford.

In fact, I'll be really surprised if we score more than 105. :ez-roll:

Our opponents have lost three in the tournament.

Texas 66 Western Kentucky 64
South Florida 73 LSU 64
Kentucky 97 Tennessee State 52
Duke 54 Albany 52
Arkansas 57 Northwestern 55
Arkansas-Little Rock 69 Texas A&M 60

Iowa State 66 Dayton 78
Washington 80 Miami 86
Oklahoma State 67 FGCU 73

Only negative from that is we beat (one split) the 3 who lost and lost to (lost 2 of 3 to UT)) the 6 who won.

Nice game for the gals !! Worries me though for Monday night. First playing a top 5 program and coach on Their home court - tough chore. Also, we seem to be up and down on our shooting so wondering if the hot shooting dissappears Monday - will be rooting for them BUT think we lose. Would be great if Somehow we could pull it out and come home to OKC

I agree. It will require our players to stay out of foul trouble, great inside play, scoring from all of our guards, rebounding, and a great defensive effort. I expect this game to play out completely different from the game yesterday. Stanford plays defense, QU didn't.

Norm,

Did we know QU didn't play defense before the game? I don't recall anyone saying it would be easy since they did not play defense.

How in the world did they win over 30 games not playing any defense?

I doubt anyone here had seen them play. You can beat poor teams without playing defense if you can shoot. Do you think QU is a good defensive team?

Only seeing them that one time I'm not certain. But the evidence I gathered from that game says they are not.

At the same time, we were shooting extremely well - something we don't always do.

Their inside defense was horrible. 42 points from our three centers. Think what would have happened if KayKay had played most of the game. But I admit Vionese took a big step up in that game. Some nice moves in there.

Driscoll was one of their three leading scorers, all of whom were just over 12 ppg, and by far their leading rebounder. She had also blocked two shots per game. But, they weren't playing Iona or Rider, and she had probably not seen anyone like our posts until last night. Well, at least not since Notre Dame.

It was also tough to play hard nosed defense when if you breathed on player they called a foul. I thought our girls adjusted well and started moving and sharing the ball to create open shots. It will be interesting how the officials call the game Monday.

Exactly! Seems like all the other games (and especially on the men's side) they are allowing much more physical play than during the regular season. Didn't happen this game however and they were touch fouls on both sides.

In every men's tournament game I've watched thus far, the officials have pretty much swallowed their whistles in the first half, unlike our game yesterday.

That is for sure! And I hate it! It's a disservice to the game IMO. Why do you change the way you call the game from the regular season?
