I want to take a minute and put my opinion out there on a few different topics. Recruiting and the current problems.

Recruiting:

Why in the world would a topic recruit want to come to OU? This is no way is a stab at OU, it's just a honest question.
-Only if they are close by, parent played for OU, or immediate playing time; these are the only reasons I can think of.

Current Slump:
-First, this team clearly is not getting along. I know, losing is not fun. I've seen Buddy get into arguments with several teammates i.e. James and Woodard.
-Second, the things this team has to do well to win, they are doing poorly. Defense has been very bad.
-Third, Rebounding is SSOO BAD! what in the world are all those tips? This team does not have the mentality right now to be a great rebounding team.
-Final thought, this team just doesn't want it as bad as their opponents right now. The body language tells the story.

I love this team, and support them in the ups and downs, but they need a guy like Aaron Ross aka James harden look alike.

FACT:
Buddy and james- Buddy and Woodard both got into arguments on the sideline.

Fact: Team is not having fun.
Fact: Big time recruits don't come to OU unless they are local. Or getting paid by assistant coach.
FACT: Team has been out rebounded, out played, out shot, out hustled the last few games.

The problem is OU isn't making teams play their game; rather opponents are making OU play their game. Got it play fast

Please tell my why a top recruit would come to OU? That's an honest question. Facilities? fan support? National Championships? Big 12 Championships? Seriously, tell me.

Facilities for the student athlete, for the most part, are as good as or better than almost anywhere in the country and new facilities and upgrades are coming.

Fan support is often a non issue unless we are recruiting against the true blue bloods of the sport.

Lack of NCs is virtually a nonissue.

Lack of Big 12 championships is a nonissue unless we are recruiting against KU.

Lon Kruger and his staff are as good as anyone in the country at developing players.

Kruger has adopted free and easy style of offense that is very guard oriented and fun to play in.

OU is and has been a traditional power in college basketball since the early 80's and is an all-time top 15-20 program.

OU is the top program on the country to not have won a NC.

OU is the top basketball program west of UK, south of KU, and east of UCLA.

If you're talking elite one and done guys, I agree with you. We're a viable option for everyone else, period.

Yes, I'm talking about the 1 and done guys. Not that I want them on my team every year. But I'd take them if they wanted to come.

We probably aren't going to recruit those kind of guys unless they are local and proximity is a factor. That's just the facts. Kruger is going to recruit players he can develop over 3-5 years. Nothing wrong with his approach. Recruiting is going better than I thought it would under Kruger TBH.

Yes, recruiting is on point. I would just like to add a nice 3/4 star Post that has a offensive skill set. KBADEN145, does the state of Oklahoma produce any of these guys?

We are also recruiting Michael Porter Jr who is a 6-9 combo forward from Missouri.

Oklahoma is improving as a state in producing basketball prospects but most in this class and 2017 are perimeter guys.

No, that's not a fact. That wasn't an argument that was a senior educating a freshman about what's expected from him.

If you think Buddy is "arguing" with any of these guys and they don't get along, then you are really clueless. This slump has nothing to do with team chemistry, but everything to do with all of them hitting a wall. Too many close games and too many games without a break. That SEC challenge took one of our off days because if you remember in previous years every team had a week with 1 game. This year we don't have it and therefore we are exhausted right now. We have to keep plugging away and at some point we will start winning these close games and the guys will get a 2nd breath.

Also, they will get needed rest the week before the big 12 tourney and hopefully get a Friday game in the tournament for the first round.

Horse crap. It's Buddy losing his cool. I have no problems with a senior "educating" another player, especially a freshman. I have big time problems with the manner and frequency that Buddy goes about it.

Never saw Hollis, Eduardo, or Minor "undress" teammates like that. It's like the time recently when Buddy tried to emphatically blame Spangler for something, and the tv announcer tore into Buddy, 1st b/c you don't do that, and second b/c Buddy was the one at fault, not Spangler.

You're my new hero

Conference Play:
Offense: 2nd
Defense: 9th
Free throws: 2nd
3 Point FG: 1st
3 Point Defense: 8th
Rebounding: 3rd
Rebounding Defense: 9th
Turnover Margin: 5th (-0.38)

Right now, OU is not doing any of these well.

We have a coach who doesn't abuse his players, has a good history of development, has sent a lot of players to the league and has coached in the NBA.

OU has had its share of Final Four appearances, Big 8 and Big 12 Championships enough to be attractive to most recruits.

OU has had or will have an opportunity to say it has had two National Player of the Years in the last 7 years. Not many schools can say that.

The gym, the dorms and the practice gyms are second to none. The seating and the sight lines in LNA can't be matched in many of the bigger gyms.

OU is on television a lot, many times on national TV games. Recruits know they'll be seen by friends and family.

The community and its relative closeness to a larger NBA city has it's advantages and is a selling point. For instance, Matt Freeman is here because of the Thunder. The Thunder works with OU, even provides some scholarships. Kevin Durant conducts a skills camp in which Buddy participated. The ties, the connections, the opportunities to see a few NBA games in person are all factors where OU can have an advantage with recruits over Kansas, Iowa State, New Mexico, Texas Tech, Missouri, Arkansas and other schools that might be more isolated.

As far as educational experience and opportunities OU can offer as many programs as most big time college facilities.

No, you read too much into it.

The Buddy/James situation in the KU game was Buddy educating James about expectations on the floor.

I don't recall the issue between him and Spangler but it sounds like you are making more out of it than what is there.

you made some valid points. Please don't do that again.

There has been more than one "situation" between he and James.

And I'm not making too much of the Spangler situation. Like I said, even the announcer went on about it for awhile, and basically said that was a bad showing for Buddy.
