Rim protection

That’s your takeaway from this game? Lol

We can’t all be geniuses like you mr. rocks. But given how many shots were blocked and altered at both ends, and how the momentum of the game did a 180 when Kur came in, I have a hard time thinking of a bigger factor.

I think we all agree on that...but why not sooner? Why didn't kur get in sooner..

I'm not sure if the stats on espn are right but ut only had 5 we had 3. I know manek had 1 they didn't count..or gave it to Williams, I didn't think he had one.

I do think we had some TO's or bad passes, etc because we drove but were a little gun shy because of the blocks.

Maybe our horrible shooting and bad defense were huge factors as well. YMMV

Actually, the board had several people specifically saying rim protection is the most overrated thing in college hoops just a few days ago.

I’m puzzled by why Kur didn’t play in the first half, too. Initially I assumed an injury but it doesn’t sound like it. Given how easily Sims was working Manek over, I’m shocked Lon didn’t make that move earlier. If we had a media who really covered our basketball team, we would probably find out, but I’m sure they will have more important things to focus on, like who will be the holder during spring practice.

The coach went with Vic for a brief period. While they are both raw talents at least you know Kur is going to alter shots if not block them outright.

You can’t see the forest for the trees. You take one thing some posters say that offends your delicate sensibilities and obsess about it and post about it over and over.

Rim protection, post defense, poor shooting, poor decision making, poor coaching, etc. take your pick. They’re all important.

This team is deficient in many areas. They can’t beat anyone right now.

I’ll try to be as manly as you and not so delicate. I guess you have it all down ... to summarize your position, we suck at basically everything and yet somehow luck our way into the tournament every year. Also love how one loss to a garbage team followed by three nail biting losses to top 15-20 teams means we can’t beat “anyone.” The hyperbole on this board is just amazing. I mean, a month ago, we had people saying Harkless was our best player based on a five game stretch, and two weeks ago, people were debating if we were better than our 2016 team. Those takes are/were silly, as is the conclusion that we suddenly suck. Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees ... some of our posters must have whiplash given how quickly they have changed their view of this team in a week.

I asked whether Kur was in the dog house in the game thread. I know he was warts like everyone else but I couldn’t believe LK wasn’t trying him in the first half. LK has been riding Manek’s interior D for far too long during this losing streak. I have my issues with Kuath as well but they are either because we’re not providing him the coaching he needs or he is not understanding it. But he was the only person we had with the raw ability to disrupt Sims.

It's towards the end of the season, but sitting on the bench is not going to make him a better player and more understanding of what is required of him simply because he has no one on the team to pattern himself after. Playing is really his only salvation to learning the game.
