Robert Allen thinks Marcus Smart is coming back

Whoever just said we should finish 1st is just plain dumb. KU has far more talent and experience. Baylor as well.

Eddie Sutton said Travis Ford has the most talent of any team in the Big 12. Of course, that was more of a backhanded compliment than anything.

I don't know if Eddie really said that, but if he did, he's wrong.

Kansas clearly has the most talent in the league. And they're experienced, to boot -- starting four seniors.

Disagree. Brown and Smart are both first round picks and Nash will be drafted. KU has one lottery pick (McLemore) and maybe another draft pick (Withey).

Withey will be a lottery pick. He is tall and moves well. Basketball skills are secondary. See Hasheem Thabeet.

Smart is a lottery pick but not top 3. He doesn't have PG skills or mentality. He is a two guard in a point guard's body (minus the enormous hands).

Brown's and Nash's draft stock and position depend a lot on who comes out and the order of picks. Both very good basketball players but fit has to be there at the right time.

I would think that Baylor as the most talent in the big 12. At least on paper, anyways, but I love the comment nonetheless.

Teams are made of more than 2 players. Go look at KU's roster. Their entire starting 5 and every major bench contributor were 4-star, elite recruits.

And again, they are starting 4 seniors.

Some of his decision might come down to how they do in the Tournament this year. They make an Elite 8 run or better, he may take off. They get knocked out early, he may want to come back to try an experience more "winning" in the Tournament. I'm not saying this as a negative, but he seems to be wired that way.

This post totally made me LOL.

As far as Smart goes, he is a solid player, but guys like him are a dime a dozen in the pros. Is he James Harden or Willie Warren? Not sure.

Yeah, because it's just so ridiculous to suggest that Kansas is the most talented team in the Big 12 right?

What a totally outrageous idea.

That's not outrageous, but the idea that you know more about talent than Eddie Sutton is hilarious. You are really down with the lollipop guild, huh?

To actually quote him...Eddie Sutton said OSU might be the most talented team in the Big 12 but he also went on to say that they are young and experienced.

Also mentioned that the way they are playing at the end of the season will determine how far they can advance in the tournaments.

KU has experience and a heck of a lot of talent. Baylor is in the same boat as OSU. Lots of young and inexperienced talent. The difference is that OSU has a coach that can not only recruit but Ford actually knows a thing or 2 about coaching basketball. Not saying Ford is a all-time great coach - he has his flaws but he isn't just a recruiter like Drew has been shown to be.

Baylor, OSU and KU are definitely at the top of the Big 12 as far as talent goes. OU and KSU are not far behind. ISU may not have high profile guys but they get quality transfers that are talented.

WVU is young and is lacking talent at the moment but has a decent class coming in.

UT may have been a bubble team with Kabongo all season.

That's not quoting him -- that's paraphrasing. You're just asking us to accept that your summing up of what Sutton said is more accurate than the other poster's summary of his remarks, and maybe it is -- I don't know (nor do I much care).

The only reasons I care one way or the other about Smart coming back is the relentless hype he receives, the embarrassing flopping he resorts to, and the coddling he too often receives from the officials. The guy's a good player, but he's not invincible, so bring him on (or not).

That Smart won the conference player of the year is guestionable, in my opinion, but whatever -- he got the big award. So if he does stick around, hopefully the announcers will drop the tongue baths and just cover the game as it happens on the court. If he goes off, great -- praise him for it. If he doesn't, praise the guy who does. Or the team that wins. The relentless focus on one player -- any player -- is nauseating.

Perhaps it was just as bad when Blake Griffin was at OU, I don't know. I kind of doubt it, but maybe it was. But not his freshman season, even though BG's stats that season stacked up strikingly well against Smart's. But BG didn't get that kind of relentless hype till his sophomore season, when he was the national player of the year and he had a truly special season, statistically.

Not sure how you would measure this against Smart, but BG got PLENTY of attention his freshman season. Fraschilla gushed over him time he was on the air, specifically, how BG had all the physical attributes but just needed to refine the tools. Remember him harping on that repeatedly...as he should.

Withey is predicted to be a late first round pick. I have seem on several draft boards that the Thunder are going to pick him with there 28th pick. He may go before, but I don't think it will be in the lottery.

Excuses for what? OSU has had a great season.

Since nobody has his exact quote, I'm going to just assume he was exercising a bit of hyperbole.

I don't know how anyone could look at the full rosters of both teams and think that KU is less talented than OSU. And, more importantly, they have a significant edge in experience.

Having elite talent with significant experience is a tough combo to beat.

Either way it is kind of ridiculous. You guys are acting like they were third and 3 games out of 1st. They were 1 game out, split with both teams, and were a double OT loss from being the one seed.

Some of you guys get embarassing trying to run down OSU. They are ahead of us right now, but let them have their moment. We all know what will happen long term with Kruger.
