Has been dismissed from Washington for drug issues, the same reason Fresno State parted ways with him, per ESPN. Gotta believe we woulda steamrolled them had they been without Upshaw, oh well. OU player or not, I hope he can conquer his demons and come back to play this great game we all love, because he definitely has the talent.

I think he was leading the nation in blocked shots. He has the size to play in the NBA if he can get his act together.

Agreed. What a shame that this kid would allow substance abuse to ruin his life as well as a promising career.

I'm no apologist, but if he was booted for a marijuana test, I question the spirit of the law. Washington has decriminalized the stuff, and I don't know why the NCAA would take a zero-tolerance stance on what is a performance-INHIBITING substance.

I mean, that's the only hope U. Colorado has for rebuilding its athletic program! Talk about the death penalty...

I haven't seen anything to suggest that Upshaw was dismissed for smoking weed. One report I read said he "failed multiple drug tests" at Washington.

He was suspended a number of times when he was at Fresno State. He even spent time in John Lucas's drug rehab program while he was there, so his problems make go deeper than smoking a little weed.
