Roster Next Year

Many of our guys shouldn't really play on an SEC team, which means you desperately need to recruit over them. And if you manage to do that, you tell them they won't have a role unless it is due to extreme injury issues, and let them know they may want to move on to a level where they will get more minutes. If we end up keeping several players like some of you want, our chances of improving the roster aren't great. As of now, we have at most one incoming freshman who might contribute, and that is far from a sure thing. We lose our two best players, one of whom is a likely lottery pick, and the other helped carry us in noncon. All of which is to say, we need to bring in a ton of talent in the portal. There is almost no chance we will luck into a guy like Fears becoming available at the 11th hour, so we have to do a better job of bringing in transfers who are true difference makers, not just role players who can provide a good game once in a while.

100% need a 4 and a combo guard that will be at least 2 of the 3 best players on the team next season ..

I agree. Moser or no Moser the entire squad needs to be revamped next year. Gotta get more athleticism into the starting lineup. Miles, Wague and Forsyth are solid backups but should not be starting next year.

I think Nwankwo is the only one who has a shot at returning. Although, they would be dumb to transfer.

I disagree. He has been our third big man all season and our big men production has been awful. Three or four good/decent games a season doesn't mean we don't need an upgrade across the board at that spot.

I see no way Cole is on this team next year. Why would he stay? He either can't play, or is another guy Moser didn't develop or trust. I'll be shocked if he doesn't leave. I have no clue on Atak. Our track record of turning any of our redshirts into helpful players isn't great, and I question if he is another guy who will come and go without ever playing.

I'd guess there is a better chance that neither Jones nor JN will be here than both. Maybe JN stays, but won't be surprised if he moves on.

I’ve been pretty critical of Luke, but if he will play like an actual big man he could be serviceable off the bench. Just my opinion

You'll have to specify who "people" are. I have never once blamed a kid for leaving or complained about NIL.

Northweather is not the reason why the big production has been so poor. He should get a few minutes a game, more if produces. He should not be playing big minutes at all. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a spot on the roster. He’s better than any number three portal big from another team.

..... but it is. They literally have financial statements and everything to prove it, and that was BEFORE the whole NIL era that we are in now. Players were getting paid via scholarship, now they get additional compensation. When all the pay for play was demanded, this was part of Pandora's box that also came out. Like it or not, this is the reality of college athletics now and moving forward

If my quick scan of the all conference team was right, we are one of only three or four teams without anyone on first, second, or third team. That’s with a guy who will be a first round pick. Again, we have to upgrade significantly. We are firmly on the bubble and that’s with Fears and Moore.
