Roster Next Year

I'm with you. I've been in wait-and-see mode for two seasons and still am, though I view this season as a small step in the right direction. But that's not what the complaint was. It was about relentlessly negative posters, those who virtually never say anything positive, even when things are going well, as they certainly did down the stretch this season.
I get it. Some on here skew way more negative than others. My general point is that what is there to look forward to when all we are told all the time is that we don't have money to compete, we don't have money for a new arena, and our best player since TY is not going to be back next season with very little hope of landing someone to replace him. I want to be hopeful. I just don't know how I can reasonably feel that way given the way these past four years have gone, and I think many others feel even stronger in that stance than I do. The portal could change that, or it could make things feel even worse.

I'm in wait-and-see mode regarding the portal, too. It's not even officially open yet (I think). I figure it's not a bad idea to wait and see who we end up with. This time last year, no one could have guessed we would get Fears. There'll be plenty of time to bitch and moan once we've seen next year's team, so what's the point of jumping the gun? It's spring, OU softball and baseball are both top 10, MLB's about to start, the Thunder are rolling (not that I care, but I know many here do). It's actually a pretty good time to be a Sooner.

Good job. I am ou fan , you don't get tired of all the negativity on this board? Is this what the board is? A counseling session for bitter ou fans? Hide behind a computer and spew what they want? Then can't expect a response. I come on to look at recruiting updates, portal and the games and it's a bitch session. I feel like it's Cnn about trump.
Idk what to tell you given the state of the program. I guess we could just talk all day about how awesome it was to get a 9 seed and how we can't wait to get another 9 seed maybe in 2029.

I am considered one of the downers but I try to stay positive too. I look forward to seeing who we get in the portal (and debating same), seeing fears getting drafted, and excited for kai rogers a lot! I'm a Rogers-truther

as we look forward to next years roster i give you the final brutal Goodine numbers

for the season he was 8ppg on 42.5/42.1/76.1 shooting

in TAMU games he was 29 ppg on 65.3/70/90.1 shooting

in his other 29 games he was 6.6ppg on 38.7/37.5/71.4 shooting
37.5 from three is fine, but the overall FG percentage is awful, and his FT numbers should be much better. Add in his poor defense, and it is just baffling how he saw so much time. I know we didn't have a ton of great options, but there were games where the dude played more minutes than Fears, and plenty more games where he ended up with the second or third most minutes.

So this is a rough guestimate of what the team looks like next year:

Position
Starters
Backups
3rd String
PGDuke MilesDayton ForsythePortal
SGJadon JonesPortal
SFJeff NwankwoPortalAlec Blair
PFPortalKuol Atak
CMo WagueKai RogersAndreas Holst

Obviously with speculation that Duke leaves, that could all change. And depending on who we add in the portal, where guys end up as far as starters/backups is fluid as well. We NEED a very good 4 man and a very good guard plus a couple of 3 and D types. If we can land a true starting caliber post that would be helpful as well.

Before portal season really kicks off, I'm curious, what would everybody consider a successful portal season this year?

In all likelihood, should be two years in a row, fluke last year. The sec shouldn't be as good as this year, which was brutal. 4 games they should have won and ou is a 6 or 7 seed.

For some reason pm often ends up on the wrong side of flukes for it to happen so often..

You want a defintion of a fluke? An unlikely chance occurance. An especially piece of luck. How many bid stealers this year?
My point is that you make your own luck. pm offers us such a thin margin for victories on a nightly basis he will put us on bubble watch, or worse, every year. So it's not really a fluke when it doesn't go his way

Not to be a doomer but that team genuinely goes 3-15 in conference. Need a high level guard and a high level big. A good wing would also help, no clue if Jadon or Nwankwo can be that.

At a bare minimum, definitely a very good 4 & someone to push Miles to a bench role.

Starting center would be sweet, especially because Mo only really took off in Nashville. I am much more optimistic for next season with him as a primary guy but again still a small sample size.

I will never understand OU fans that want OU basketball to improve by other teams being less good.

How about we just improve our own team/program and let the rest take care of itself, instead of making excuses?

What excuse, it’s reality!! Ou has been medicore for a while but I still hope for the best . 2016 was the last year ou went into every game expecting to win. You don't get it, the SEC was unreal this year? So you think saying it probably won't be easier next year regardless of how ou is, come on mcfly!! Your the type of fan that if ou wins, your on this site complaining about how they won or complaining about how they lose. Point is , you complain non-stop. They made the tourney and you probably had some issue instead of cheering them on, wanted them to lose and come on here and complain.

lol, I didn't even post during the season about the team at all.

I showed up to correct Boulder's math on a revenue topic, then waited for the season to end. Funny how I complain non-stop when I wasn't even here for over 8 months. Run your mouth much about stuff you don't know about? Yep, sure looks like it.

Hurt your feelings. Must be true complainer, true fan you are. I remember you made a sarcastic post on a portal post I had last year so that's your sense of humor. Dish it out , can't take anything back. If you would read a little, I said your that type of fan. So maybe try to read before you talk any noise.
