For those of you on this sight that are true to OU do you believe that potential recruits may use this forum to learn more about the program? If so would you consider it an accurate account of OU women's basketball?

I would hope that no OU prospect would ever see this forum. Parents and relatives of players have been horrified. I can imagine what prospects would think.

Personally I enjoy reading boards for different programs. Many times when you search a potential recruit you will find their name linked to a college board. everyone has an opinion on players coaches etc.

I don't think this board is any indication of the program. If you look at the crowd at an OU game, it often contains mothers and grandmothers who have brought their young daughters to the game. Eight-year-old girls are sitting with grandparents who are proud that she will have the option to play college basketball, something that grandmother didn't have. I doubt that any of these grandparents post on this board. Curiously, grandmother may have played three or four years of highschool basketball, might even have been a coach.

When I see what the players are doing: going to Haiti to work in the relief effort, building homes for the homeless, visiting schools or hospitals---I am pretty sure that none of these post on this board.

When I look at the Stilettos, proud, successful women who are supporting a program that allows young women to play basketball in college, an opportunity that they didn't have, I doubt that any of them post on this board.

The OU women's basketball program has attained the pinnacle of dignity and respect for character and sense of purpose. They are, as Geno says, what women's basketball should be about. That is this program, what it should be about.

Yes, I think so. Every program has strengths and weaknesses. OU is no different and we talk about both. A recruit shouldn't expect everything to be perfect at any program. They need to see that fans here love OU basketball and we have high expectations. Recruits who visit this site will learn that the coaching staff wants players to succeed on and off the court. The players are generally very close. I believe they will gain a sense of how important it is for the team to compete for conference championships and beyond. If they want to come to a good school, work extremely hard, push others to succeed, they will have a very rewarding 4 years in Norman.

Thank you that is a great answer and great response women's basketball at all levels in all programs have pros and cons and recruits have to make the best decision they can based on all the information they can gather. These types of boards are for sure seen by recruits their families etc again always good to get as much info about a program as one can.

No basketball recruit should make a choice about a school based on a fan message board. If they are then they are doing it wrong...

Most women's teams would kill to have a board dedicated and active 24/7 to talking basketball. It's a testament to how many people truly care about OU wbb. I wonder out of the 300 something D1 women teams how many have ANYBODY posting about their team and recruits. Not many.

The amount of dedication of Norm, Syb and others on here is exceptional.

Syb I must of overlooked this when I ask my original question.. Looking back you have actually witnessed parents of current players bothered by the board?

Yes, Absolutely. We had, for example, the father of Whitney, a person whose knowledge of sports and basketball far exceeds that of anyone on this board, and he was offended by what was posted. We also had relatives of Vining. Currently, we have the parents of softball players and recruits, along with parents of basketball recruits.

There have also been other family members, other than parents, post here as well. I think Gioya's uncle(?) posts here occasionally. Who knows how many have viewed or posted on here that haven't revealed themselves?
