Why did he leave OU for ND? Never could find a decent explanation.
2nd question. Was Charles Jones of the early 80s era at 6'10 with size the last legit really tall big man to play center for OU on a regular basis? Ace and others were like 6'7 and Stacey was really a forward. Why can't OU grab a hold a huge big guy who's really good to play the post? Know there's not a
big pool to chose from, but come 1 every 5-7 years.

I disagree with that statement. King was a center in college. Thats what he played from day 1 when he arrived to the day he left.

The "clash" was pure speculation on my part. Kelvin's floor burn style of coaching wasn't for everyone. And, since Ryan was the most talented, but not necessarily the hardest worker on the team, I assumed (obviously incorrectly) that he and KS might have clashed at some point.

Like you, I wish he had stayed at OU. There was never any question about his talent. He had a good senior season at Notre Dame. Made me sick to watch him play there when I knew what he was capable of accomplishing in an OU uniform.

Eduardo Najera was the better more talented player ..

I saw him play twice in the state playoffs his senior season and agree 100% with your assessment. Hump was so much better than anyone else, he could coast and still dominate the competition. I remember how he was often the last player down the floor on offense and on defense. He was a great high school player, but he was also lazy at times.

I don't disagree with you very often, but I disagree here. I thought Ryan was overrated in HS and college, but I watched him as a HS junior. My son played center and they played Booker T in the playoffs (lost in OT) and some scrimmages, so I watched them closely. I thought the best big man at Booker T was Etan Thomas who went on to play at Syracuse and then 9 years in the NBA. Ryan couldn't shoot a lick but jumped well. He had no stamina. Maybe Etan graduated a year ahead of Humphrey.

Hump scored 2 points a game and was cut from the NBA as soon as his guaranteed 1st round contract expired. I think playing at Notre Dame got him drafted in the NBA so it was a good move on his part.

Hump was the best athlete on the floor in high school so he was really good then. Even without great skill he could dominate a game.

Etan known as Derrick before was a year older. Etan was great too but he didn't shoot it any better.

It you played btw to over time in the playoffs you were good because at that time most teams couldn't hang with them.

In scrimmages btw wasn't the same because guys like Hump were still in football. One year he lost on Friday in football and played basketball in Dallas the next weekend a senior.

The btw teams with hump were nearly unbeatable for Oklahoma teams. His soph year they were one of the best if not the best of all time.

When I first saw this thread title, my first thought was that I can't believe it wasn't "Ryan Humphreys, OU Center" lol
