Ryan Spangler come on down!

Boca please don't put down a program that has been very good for at least a decade. You can be very good without going to Elite 8 in the tourney. Capel has an Elite 8 and he nearly destroyed our program. Consistancy is a much more impressive resume.
Spangler will have an offer from OU and I would be shocked if he doesn't accept it.

Aren't Cole and Spangler essentially the same player? Could someone who has seen them both explain why we would want them both?

That's how I see it, but a lot of folks think Spangler's upside is quite a bit higher. As long as they are the 12th and 13th scholarships, and the 4th and 5th big men, I don't have a problem with it. If we're going to recruit guys that have lower ceilings than these two, and give them scholarships, we're probably not going to make the Dance anytime soon.

Spangler is a good, solid big man who can even step out on the floor and shoot the 3. He's tough and smart and plenty athletic to win with in the Big 12. Think Mike Maddox that played at Kansas back in the 80's if you need a comparison. That's the best one I can think of.

So let me get this straight. Gonzaga is not a mid major because they consistently win a low major conference. Interesting.

Gonzaga is a nice program along the lines of Tulsa from the mid 90s to mid 00s with about the same accomplishments. Wasn't Tulsa considered a mid major during that 10 year run?

Spangler is also a good passer in addition to all else that has been said of his game. He's going to be a Sooner, folks. Nice pickup by Lon.

You can argue semantics till the cows come home if you want to. But, right now, for the third year in a row, Gonzaga has a better team than we have.

We loved Ryan at Gonzaga and hope for nothing but the best for him at Oklahoma. Zag fans are uniformly sorry to see him go and wish we would have seen him get more minutes this year. I'm going to be stunned if he doesn't blossom into a great player for you guys.

As many of you know, he had an outstanding high school career at Bridge Creek. We followed his games closely. He ended up with:

PPG: 29.18
RPG: 17.18
BPG: 5.82

2 pt. %: 76%
FT %: 72%

I loved this interview with Ryan on the local TV station, which includes some highlights from his game.

Don't forget us, Ryan, because we'll be watching you at Oklahoma!

Thanks for your comments Zags Native. I feel the same way as you, he can be very successful here at Okla and could have been at Gonzaga.
