Ryan Spangler looking to come home?

_Ryan Spangler is by all accounts a fine young man.
_He's a good athlete who obviously loves to bang inside and go after rebounds and loose balls with a vengeance.
_He's a former football player who would bring a toughness to the team that has not been evident in all of our players the past three years.
_He's an Oklahoma kid who may want to come back home.

What is there to talk about? If he wants to transfer to OU, I say give him a scholarship! He may be a bit raw on the offensive end. But at 6' 8" 225, he has the potential to develop into a very good player in time. His 29.8 points, 17.4 rebounds, six blocks and 4.5 assists averages as senior at Bridge Creek was impressive by any measures you care to use.

Spangler is pretty athletic for his size and loves to go get rebounds. At Zaga, had three jr's and a soph ahead of him at Forward but played a decent amount of time as a frosh.
If he's a banger and competitor that just flat out loves to get rebounds, I say get him and having hime 3 years could be real plus.

You guys are kind of supporting my point. If his game is banging, and rebounding, how effective is he going to be in the Big 12 at 6'7, 220-230 pounds? That is about Washington's size, and while he was good on the glass FOR HIS SIZE, we all complained about his lack of size/athleticism all season. Not to mention it appears LK wants a 4 that can be pretty versatile. I don't put Spangler in that category. I'm not trying to knock the kid, but looking at his offers out of HS, watching a little film on him, seeing his body size at Gonzaga, I just don't see it.

I don't know what TU's big man situation is, exactly, but he might be a better fit there.

Spangler is not your typical Kruger 4-man, doubt he lands at OU.

Would like him at OU but ORU or TU would be a great fit for him!

What do you mean? Yes he rebounds and plays very hard but this guy can also shoot the ball. His game is very similar to Ryan Minor's.

I believe we would take him in a heart beat.

For the question about only being 6'8" in the Big 12. Who has big men besides Kansas. The rest of the teams might have one guy over 6'8" that actually plays.

i should have qualified as a run/jump athlete .. you know the type of athleticism that you need in basketball ...

and to call minor one of the best "athletes" ever to play OU basketball ... that is a joke .. he is not and would not be in the top 30 if not lower

now as a basketball player it is not close clearly ..

Quite possibly one of the dumbest statements you've ever made, which is quite a feat. Congrats.

Looking like Spangler to OU might be a done deal. Suppose to get his official release soon.

If so, he will provide a solid body alongside M'Baye in 2013. We need more posts for next year badly...

Next year, or the year after? Next year we have Osby, Fitz, M'Baye, and Aren't, and guys like Neal/Cam that could play as a small 4 in a pinch. We'll also have Cole.

He wont be able to play next year

Here's a five page thread with Gonzaga fans talking about the Spangler rumor and talking about his game:

Most of the Gonzaga fans are freaking out over this..they think Spangler has great potential, someone even said he'd be the best player to ever transfer out of that program and they think he's a key ingredient to a FF/Elite 8 Run. And us OU fans are thinking he's not good enough to play here? You are out of your minds.

TU,

Where are you hearing this about him wanting out?

Now that Wright is staying at TU, I think he would be a nice pickup.

Tiny Gallon's "one shining moment" (kinda)
