Sam Grooms has committed to Oklahoma

I hope this doesn't mean we've given up on Blair or anything of the sort. We certainly needed the depth no matter ... and Blair can certainly play the b/u if Grooms is the better point to start ... but Blair is by no means a lost cause nor a scoring option.

Anyone know if Grooms is a 3 to do 2 guy?

Great news! Welcome aboard, Mr. Grooms, and nice going, Coach Kruger!

Excellent News! Much needed depth at the point. Might we see a little Blair/Grooms combo on the court at the same time?

Anybody have stats on Grooms?
The Chipola website was designed in Geocities.

same thing I was wondering...but it would only be so if Grooms has combo abilities. I don't know his game at all...just know Blair doesn't have the shot for it.

Grooms is reported to be a "pure point guard." Here's what his JUCO coach had to say about him:

“He’s got a great body and he’s really fast with the basketball,” Headrick said. “He knows when to push the basketball and does a great job running the team. We’re 21-3 and the last game we lost he didn’t play. He’s a big reason we’re Top 5 in the country. He’s a leader, and defensively he can pressure point guards.

Good. Blair is too slow to start for a championship ball club.

OU now has a couple of older point guards to compete with one another, and I think it will be Grooms on top.

PG: Sam Grooms
SG: Calvin Newell
SF: Cameron Clark
PF: Romero Osby
PF: Andrew Fitzgerald

This team, especially if it signs another guy like Jurick, will be in the dance.
