What do we know about our 2013 nonconference schedule?

I think I read on here that the team is going to France.

The men's basketball team is taking a summer trip to Belgium and France to play several games. They will get 10 days practice in advance of the trip and will visit Paris and Normandy in addition to their games.

Anybody know any other games? Renewing with Arky (coming to our place again)?, Return trip against Ohio? Hopefully another decent game like A&M at a neutral site?

On a related note, whatever happened to the Big 12/Pac 12 challenge? A few years back we played USC at USC and in Norman (back to back years). We may have also played Zona, but has anyone heard if the conference is considering something like that again?

havent heard of anything but i enjoyed it wen we played USC and zona i like a tough no con makes games easier in big 12 play.. when i was at carnegie class 2A most years i would play 4A 5A all year so wen we got to playoffs it was a lot easier

Agreed, but in college, unlike HS, a selection committee decides who plays in the tournament and who does not. They look at overall record, so teams have to build-in wins in the schedule to get the win total up. As you know, in high school, everybody (or it used to be this way) advances to District and then moves on to Regionals and Area from there if they keep winning. So, playing teams from bigger classes doesn't hurt a high school team as far as postseason play is concerned.

i know i agree about college and the committee but we need a so so tough non conf to make are rpi bpi get better and our team better i dont want us playing a bunch of stinky teams we blow off the court our youngins need some early challenges with just a few cupcakes

I agree, I'd prefer to play a better schedule. I like the matchups with the tough mid-level conferences like Missouri Valley teams, or Ohio. But I like playing the big boys too. We used to have some pretty good schedules but when the program went into the toilet, they started playing more cupcakes (Bill Snyder approach).

We've never played too many "tough" teams. I liked last year's schedule okay. Plenty of teams we should beat, but there weren't a lot of terrible teams that would drag our RPI down. A lot of teams in the 100-200 range, I guess. It would be nice to have one premier OOC game each year.....a real basketball power type team, but that would probably be an automatic loss at this point, so I see why LK wouldn't do that. Maybe in 2-3 years, when our roster is a little better, and more established.

Well, we beat KU last year albeit at home, but it was a win. If we played them at home, we have a chance to win but at this point if we go on the road against a KU-level team, we would probably be beaten pretty handily. That wouldn't be good at this point.

1 powerhouse school with 1 loss wont hurt. i would love to see our young team travel to kentucky or Duke etc. our team would get beat but playing in a enviroment like that would be good for the young players and give us a better chance in big 12 play winning on the road

I guess A'math leaving was a really a "BIG" surprise...I see the value in the trip, early practice and such...but without the "french" kid on the team i dont think we take this trip...Wow, a free trip home, play in front of extended family wasnt enough to keep him

I want a similar schedule, maybe a bit tougher, no really bad teams again, but more home games early.

OSU went on a similar trip before last season. I think it was great for the team. 4 extra games to tinker with line ups and options.

plus 10 extra practice days. This will be great for the team IMO

It was good for them and as the season started it seemed injuries kind of gummed things up a bit. About half way through conference play is when you really saw what kind of team OState had.

I'm hoping for very similar results minus the injuries. Where we weren't completely settled until December (lineup issues), I want to see this OU team settled and ready to go by the start of Dec. With the early start and better guard play, I think it's doable.

I agree, dig. I thought it really helped OSU early in the season.
