Anyone else getting antsy for the schedule to be released? Looking back, I see that it was a year ago today that the Big 12 unveiled the conference schedule, so it won't be much longer. We basically know the noncon schedule, but I'm eager to see how the conference schedule breaks down. Sometimes when you play certain teams ends up making a big difference in how a season goes.

Only thing I am antsy about is seeing the starting 5.

I’m not sure the starting five matters that much. This team is so deep, Lon may have the luxury of sending out an entire second five who will be perfectly capable of starting in some situations. The difference in the depth on this year’s team and every season since our FF run is spelled QUALITY.

I don't think there is any question that we are more athletic and talented than we have been in years. I always hesitate to get too confident in how deep a team will be before the season starts, though, because we have all been burned by that before -- even in what turn out to be bad seasons, we tend to be optimistic that we will have several legit contributors off the bench. Again, I have no doubt regarding the talent, the only thing that could hold them back this season (especially early) is if it takes the newcomers a while to adjust to D-1 and start playing to their potential.

Many on here are concerned about tiny vs large. I'm more interested in good vs bad.

This is a great statement. I’m excited about the athleticism and talent with this years team. Trying to temper that enthusiasm

If you look at height stats alone, you kind of expect/hope that your tallest guy would defend the other team's tallest guy. Unfortunately that won't be the case in the line-up posted above. Your 6'7" guy will be defending the opponent's athletic 6'10" guy. And that may or may not present problems.

No way Reaves and Jamal are 6'5''... Otherwise accurate. Both of those guys are probably 6'3''.

I saw JB in Pub W a couple months ago. You're wrong. He's easily 6'4" and probably 6'5".

Your points are spot on, Wichita. I should have added that my boasts about our depth may not be evident right away. It’s highly unlikely that seven newcomers (nine counting Kuath and Reaves) will come together right away. But as you correctly stated, the talent and the athleticism are there to make this one of the deepest teams we have seen in a very long time. The competition for playing time is going to be interesting.
