Sherri and her staff

Sherri has made it clear she doesn't like traveling the AAU circuit over the summer and she apparently doesn't like camps, because we don't have one any longer while just about everyone else does.

We have football camps, cheerleading camps (all summer), etc., etc. -- but no basketball camp for girls. Go figure.

I wonder if Sherri thought the camps localized her. She and her assistants seem to be spending a lot more time at AAU camps and tournaments. It seems that someone is always in Florida, Georgia, or Ohio.

Well, it seems that other programs have figured out how to run camps and attend events in other states. They've been doing it for years. It's called a recruiting schedule. Most NCAA sanctioned events for WBB is one in the spring, one in the fall and the larger part of the month of July. It's not rocket science and if it is, other programs have figured out how to do it, it seems as though OU should purchase some rocket parts, tools and fuel for starters.

I'm pretty sure that the OU coaches are far too stupid to do that.
(Why isn't there a smiley for disgust?)

They have the time and money to go to Haiti, one would think they have enough time and money to host elite recruits for a few days.

True. There is enough money to do anything desired and important enough. Haiti is not a bad choice for mission/community service and especially if they happen to see a 14 year old that is 6'5".

Edit: It just occurred to me...has there been an international student on an OU WBB team other than Stacy Dales? She was right up the road (so to speak) in Canada. But OU teams have been to Europe and they have alums playing all around the world. Do they stay in contact with alums to see if there are players in Europe, Poland, Australia, etc...that have NCAA eligibility?

I do think some changes need to made but Chad and staff. Chad recruited my daughter and her best friends. It a small circle with recruits families.Even tho my daughter did not go to OU or her two friend one from OK.As a family we felt Chad was honest and very direct during her process. The only thing that turn us off and others was not Sherri or Chad but the process timing.OU is very deliberate. Our club coaches is close the staff.

That's interesting, thanks for posting! It's hard for us to ever hear direct recruiting information.

Norm, again you don't know what you are talking about. The Haiti trip is not funded by the WB program. Money is raised through donations and funding help comes from other source like the Mission of Hope. Not sure you are as tied to the program as you think or act like you are. I watch a lot of post and so many times your information is simply incorrect. And I use this forum to stay in touch but I am alwasys having to verify things you say and take most of your comments with a grain of salt. Please start getting your facts straight before making comments. Thanks!

Thank you!

Sherri, unequivocally has earned the right to do it her way. The next step for the program is to start winning the Big 12 again and get to the final four and win one. Until she proves different I"m sure she has the same goals.

I didn't claim to know where they got the money. The real point was, 'do they have time to hold camps' but you ignored that part. If you will note, Syb said: I wonder if Sherri thought the camps localized her. She and her assistants seem to be spending a lot more time at AAU camps and tournaments. It seems that someone is always in Florida, Georgia, or Ohio. Personally, I don't care if they go to Haiti or who pays for it. I think it is nice the team does some community projects. Some of the girls volunteer at local schools and that seems very worthwhile as well.

If I post something about about the program, I try to let everyone know that I was told such and such or post it in such a way to let everyone know that is my opinion. I don't think I've ever told anyone you must believe this because it is absolutely accurate information. If you had better information, why have you waited until now to raise the issue? Why didn't you post whatever information you had to correct any inaccuracies? Thanks

I'm still teetering on what I want to see happen, because I'm a delusional fan that thinks that we have the chance to run the table and win everything just because we'll be in the games that they're played in should we suddenly start winning.

Somewhere hidden in this program is the Big 12 preseason champ pick. Find that team, win the Big 12 tournament, then win the NCAA tournament. All you have to do is win the games you play :P

Realistically, we're out after round two in Big 12 and get a WNIT bid at best. If that happens, we need offseason changes, since we can't rely on postseason momentum like we could with last year's Sweet 16.

Badger, what kind of changes do you think need to be made? Thanks

I thought i was on Ignore.

Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

For an atheist, that's not bad. I think that Sherri may have recognized something that she saw as the future of recruiting. If all we do is remain local, we are limited by population, and OSU does get some good ones, too. Sherri has always been national and international, and I think those efforts have been more fruitful than summer camps. It may be a simple recognition of the direction that things are going.

Thanks for Posting! I noticed you only have 6 post but have been here since 2010, Hopefully you will come around more often.

As I always bring out, it's been said that Sherri recruits the person and not the player, I'm sure she really wants to make sure a girl is a good fit for OU or not.
