Sherri is VERY overpaid for her efforts lately.....

78 put down the gun and step back from the edge of the window before you hurt yourself. Life is not going to co e to end because Sherri has a really bad season once in 10 years. Not of us are happy with this year, we all, including you, expected a Big 12 champion but for what ever reason it's not there. I have been around OU for longer than most on this board and believe me Sherri is pulling her hair out trying to figure out why.. Look at the bright side, the season is almost over

OKE- be careful when you think you know something - many times you have no clue as in this instance. I'm on no ledge and do NOT live my life by OU or any other sports like many do. In fact, I enjoyed a family dinner with daughters and son-in-laws while the second half was played. IF you knew me, you would know just that but you ASSumed something. My life goes on just fine with or without sports. And by the way, I have been going to OU games for 50 years so I doubt seriously that you have anything on me.

And yes, with this type of play, the season is about over. I don't expect a Big-12 championship, I expect competant coaching and playing and EFFORT!!!!!!! Sherri needs to get rid of some of the folks around her and bring in new blood

Lon has coached on the highest level of basketball. I'd take a gander if Lon coached women's basketball he'd be on the level of the little fellow in Connecticut.

Romulus, don't make comments without thinking. Look at Sherri's record and the circumstances under which she achieved that record. Look at Lon's record. Her record is a bit better. Now, you don't want to say that he knows more than Sherri because he is male. Do you? Basketball isn't too difficult for the feminine mind. I suspect that Sherri and Lon would have a great deal of respect for one another.

Don't take a position in a discussion without thinking. Women's basketball and men's basketball are different. You could compared Sherri's record with another women's coach and make a case who was the best. You can not, when in a state of sanity, compare accomplishments in women's basketball with accomplishments in men's basketball and make any such judgment.

That would be like comparing a Courtney Paris stat with a Blake Griffin stat and trying to make the case Courtney was a better player. That would be stupid. Wouldn't it?

It is always intriguing to see who thinks they have credibility.

This is true but you think you have the most credibility. It's ridiculous really how ignorant you are about basketball and it shows with every post. But, you never played, all you did was play in the band. So, why don't you stick to telling us how great is the tuba section in the Pride or the drummer in the stage band and let those of us who PLAYED basketball discuss it.

Thanks. :krugs

Go look at their records of having been to the Final Four or Sweet Sixteen.

Lon is excellent. Sherri's record is superb.

A bevy of stupid posts in this thread and this is at the top.

Womens basketball has about 2-3 teams every year that are very good. After that, it has about 80 that are pretty even. Mens basketball has about 15-20 teams every year that are very good, about 40 on the next level and then 40 more the level just below that.

In mens basketball, upsets occur often, in womens basketball they seldom occur.

In mens basketball you need a good starting 5 to be competitive, in womens basketball if you have 1 good player you have a good to great team (OU with CP, Baylor with the girl last year, etc.). In womens basketball, if you have 4-5 great players, you will dominate the sport (UConn). In mens basketball, you can have 4-5 great players and still not dominate (Phi Slamma Jamma).

The UConn coach is the best womens coach of all time. If he coached mens basketball, most likely he would not be in the top tier of coaches and most probably on the same tier or lower than Lon. Womens basketball is mainly about schemes, or X's and O's and then talent. He gets more talent than anyone so combine his schemes with the talent he gets and that equals dominate program. In mens basketball, he would struggle to get the level of talent he needs to win 1 NC, much less multiples. Schemes in mens basketball help less talented teams compete, think Princeton back in the day, or Northwestern a few years back. Very little talent but great schemes. How many NCAA tournament games did those programs win? ZERO.

I could go further but you get my point.

Sherri is a good coach and has done a great job with the program but she can't seem to take it to the next level. Mulkey has taken Baylor to the next level. They have 3 NC's and Sherri has 0. Baylor has 4-5 final 4's, Sherri has 3. I am no fan of Mulkey but I can admit she's a great coach, a better coach than Sherri and the results prove it.

As others have mentioned, Sherri needs to make some changes in her staff to help get to the next level. If that doesn't work then the OU admin, alumni, and fans, need to decide if 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the Big 12 and sweet 16 runs every 3 years with a final four every 6-7 years is acceptable to them? To me, I'm ok with that as long as she keeps producing at that rate, but if she has many more years like this with a preseason #1 club and struggles to stay in the top half of the league, then maybe she needs to look elsewhere.

My old friend, just drop the mic and walk off stage
Great post

All that needs to be said. Great post!!

Having now placed three more who think they know basketball on ignore, the board looks a bit better. Personal attacks only advance positions in politics.

Proud, you too are one of the sunshine pumpers on this board that most of us give no credibility to - FYI.
A lot of goofy things being said in this thread. The quote above is the goofiest.

I would put you on ignore if your posts weren't filled with comedy. However, I'm not for censorship and I can deal with people who disagree with me. I would guess you aren't married and never had kids and I bet I'm right. You are probably also self employed or a professor/teacher.

Since there are now five on my Ignore list, I can't actually see this post. But, I did enjoy a quip on the men's board from a couple of days ago. Why would someone select a bodily excretion as a user name? I couldn't say it any better.

Make that six (6)! Oops! I'm sure I've been ignored for at least a year. BOBooger is right on. If the programs' goal is to win a NC each year (as stated by SC) then change must occur. Assistants, recruiting strategies (if they have any), team building skills, etc...must change.

What do they call it when you keep doing the same thing, expecting a different result? But if winning a Big 12 tourney every 3-4 years, going to the Sweet 16 every 2-3 years and going to the FF every 6 years or so is what you want...then OU is the best thing since the Clampett's struck oil, loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly Hills!

The same reason band people post on sports boards. :woot

Maybe someone will quote it so you can read it, Syb. Of course then they would be added to your list. Maybe at some point you will have your own board, in your own mind of course.

At least you won't have to read all of us laughing AT you, and not with you.

No, Bay. I've not put you on ignore. It is interesting to see how every post can somehow turn into a hate Sherri post, but it is difficult to take seriously when that is your only statement. It would be nice if you sometime would get over your obsessive hatred and talk basketball again.

You even just posted about how we lost Gatewood who became somewhat of a person to be ignored by the time she finished her rounds.
