Shoni Schimmel

Y'all should write her a letter and send it to her. =) I have no card, so I can't really help you out.

I think Oklahoma is as Native American as it gets. I mean, c'mon, some of us still live in tepees! I think it might be hard to pull her away from the West coast, though.

So IBleed, you think I should have an "open teepee" at the double wide and invite her and the family and all our Native American friends for a hoe down? You of course would be invited, I can make you an honorable member of the tribe and with your smooth talkin, and a heapin servin of some Denko Darlin's we can definitely close the deal. What do ya think!!!!

I absolutely love this girl!!!! But I think I love her mom more. I just watched a woman with a very deep passion for life and the future of not only her own kids, but certainly for her players too. I love her spirit. She moved me.

Has anyone sent Sherri these links to the videos? Can't take for granted that she already has seen them. Might want to also hint that mom would be a nice package deal.

As much fun as it would be to have her here, Franklin, OR is less than 18 miles from Eugene. I'm thinkin' it would be mighty hard to get a young lady with such a close (and large) family to move over 1900 miles away from home when the "local" school has shown strong interest. (I saw at least 2 envelopes bearing University of Oregon return addresses.) Even if it boils down to deciding whether to be a big duck (pun intended) in a smaller pond or go East (well, we are half a continent away), I'm afraid I think she'll end up at the wrong OU.

I almost hate to bring this up, but west coast hoops is in bad shape in general. Attendance in the Pac-10 overall is so bad it's almost laughable, and very few teams from west of the Rockies are going to make the NCAA tournament this year.

Paul Westhead, coach of Oregon, was coach of the Denver Nuggets for a while, and let me tell you, you don't want this guy as your college coach. Denver's defense was one of the all-time worst and many scoring records by Denver opponents are still in the record books from when he was in Denver. If anybody think he's reformed his act, take a look at what Oregon's done this year, and note that three of Oregon's last seven opponents have scored 100 or more. Oregon may be the highest scoring team in the country, but nobody's going to take your scoring seriously if you play there, because offense is at the expense of defense. It's the anti-Rutgers.

It may not mean a great deal but, I thought it was interesting...I went to Facebook and entered Shoni Schimmel and the first person who comes up under her friends is none other than our own Aaryn Ellenberg. The next name of interest who is also her friend is Stacy Hansmeyer

If she was to stay on the coast, I would guess she goes to Stanford. If you want to win on the West coast, go to Stanford. ESPN says she's also interested in Rutgers, Duke, and Louisville. If I were her I would think of it like this: Rutgers doesn't play offense (which Shoni seems to be an offensive player), plus that team has players leaving like non other so one would assume something's not right there. Louisville is on a freefall and I don't see how anyone would want to play there (maybe I'm just resentful ;)) Duke seems like the most logical of the three, but they got a boat load of top recruits and after what happened to that one girl (she was told that she wasn't wanted or something like that), I personally wouldn't want to play there, either. She probably views things differently, but that's JMO.

The only concern I have is we're already pursuing Allen, and both would probably play the 2. Would that affect the decisions of either player to come to OU?

First, you make some good points. Second, I would try to sign both Allen and Schimmel but you take the first one who is willing to commit. No slow playing either of those two.

Aaryn And Shoni are really Good friends!! They played on the same Nike Team over the summer. The Candace Parker Aces which consisted Some of the top Players from 2010 to 2013. They traveled to Japan for I believe a Week. On Aces facebook there are several pics Of Aaryn,Cassie Rochel (wisconsin commit),Shoni Shimmel, and Megan Simmons (Tennessee commit)

If I may add, who would of thought we would have gotten two young ladies out of California, or an unbelievable point guard too. Stacy H. found out the twins loved to text message and text them all the time. Sometimes you just have to find that little something special to peek a recruit's interest. Since it seems she has an inside track to Shoni now, who knows. I am like Mac, at least we are on her radar, and if we can get her and Deanna, I am thinking you will always have fresh legs on the floor in your guard positions. This could be the start of a UCONN of the west, when you can go 10 deep and not have a drop off. It may be a little bit of a stretch but you have to start some where.

This is AWESOME! We are stalking people on facebook!!! Lol
Uhhh, I would hardly call it stalking when it involves one of the multiple Social Networking vehicles (Facebook, My Space, Twitter, etc.), esp. if someone chooses to put themselves out there for all the world to see.

Yes, it probably is a stretch...but, I absolutely LOVE the effort. One thing is for certain, if you don't try, you can never get on their radar. If you make every effort and they choose another school, at least you know you did everything possible to sign them and you move on. These are the kinds of players I hope we are recruiting hard every year. Don't ever be afraid of going after the cream of the crop. We signed Courtney, DRob, and Whitney...no reason we can't add players like Shoni to the roster.

I know, I was kidding. The folks on the football boards do it all the time.
