Shoni Schimmel

So did she mean way east as in east coast or just east?
I don't recall her exact words but I took it to mean that she wanted her daughter to get away, attend a good university, stay on a good path, get a degree, and good things will happen. Of course, my imagination might have been working overtime too. :)

Did you catch the sublimimal messeage? "Go to Oklahoma, go to Oklahoma" Maybe it was wishful thinking and I was hearing voices.:ez-laugh:

As an impartial bystander, I can personally atest to this. Momma giraffespots can cook up some mean Indian Fry Bread.

Thank you sweetie. Its the one thing I have not yet mastered, but I am getting there.

As for what constitutes "east" for the Schimmel's, I would think anything east of the Rockies. She talked about how they played a more uptempo game. That would include OU. She just wants her daughter to escape the rez, yet still retain her culture and heritage. I would think that Oklahoma would be the ideal place for that. I don't think she is looking at Pac10 for sure and Mountain West wouldn't give them the upper echelon of competition.

Spots, with your fabulous fry bread, my excellent (if I do say so myself) 3-way chili, and a chocolate chess pie, sounds to me we can close the deal.:dance005:

Does anyone know for sure if we are recruting her? i really want this kid.

Add in some Indian tacos & I would pay to be there . . .

If she had grade problems I don't think Duke and Stanford would be in the running.

Done deal, it don't get any better than that.

Looking at her list, unless OU has cooled their jets because of possible qualifying difficulties, it looks like she might be looking at a place where she can step in and play right away. Washington, Colorado, Louisville, etc. No telling what is in the mind of youngsters. I hope we don't give up and continue working and recruiting her. She would be an excellent addition to our team. I have no doubt she could step in and help us next year. JMO

Well, nobody seems to know if OU has bothered to contact her or not. AND, according to at least one of the posts, the Sooners seem to be content with Aaryn coming in (count me into that group - we don't need to be overly concerned 'til '12) and BTW, for some reason I always thought that Oregon, UCLA & Stanford were pretty near the west coast . . .

We are in good shape at PG but that's the great thing about Shoni, she is a combo guard so she can play the 2, backup the point, and could backup/play the 3 as well.

I think Sherri is going towards a guard oriented offense that may well start three guards. At the very least, I think there will be an intent to build a rotation of several guards.

As such, I would like to see a solid point guard. But, I would also like to see multiple off guards who can be shooting guards or point guards if necessary. I don't see Shoni as a point. She seems a step slow. I see her more of an off guard. I would like to see several players in that role that could shoot and direct traffic if necessary.

I think you are probably right on with your post. It sounds like Sherri is going back to the Dales-Caufield-Ross type perimeter. Only now we could have really high quality post/power forward play to go with it. A true inside/outside threat. Not saying Caton wasn't high quality. We are just starting to get some length down low with Nicole, Jeffcoat, and Kaylon. With the type of guards we have signed, committed and recruiting, this is going to be an exciting time in Sooner basketball. With Whitney on board for three more years it gives me goose bumps at how scarey good we can be.

On my wish list,if we get Jelena from Northeastern A&M, we could be awfully hard to beat the next two years with the type of offense and defense we could put on the floor.

I must have missed something somewhere along the line - who is Jelena?
