Shoni Schimmel

So would she be a sophomore or a junior next year? Are there any other teams looking at her?
She is a sophomore right now so she can enroll at OU or wherever this fall and be eligible immediately.

I don't really know what other schools have offered.

In order to transfer from a juco to a Division I school the player either needs an associate degree or the equivalent in acceptable college credit to the college she wants to attend.

I do not think it would apply to either of the JC girls that OU is recruiting but it is my understanding that if you academically qualified coming out of high school to play D-1 ball you can transfer withou graduating junior college as long as you are academically eligible after one season. Many times in football you see players transfer after one year of JC and have 3 years eligibility left.

I think you're right, Spock. I may have been thinking of the requirement for non-qualifiers, as you've suggested. I was thinking of her being from Serbia, and how sometimes the credentials don't quite fit with eligibility for Division I schools in the U.S. And then magically it morphed into requirements for ALL juco transfers.

Some days start better than others...

You are correct. I coached a young man who was on Putnam City's state championship team a few years back. His freshman year he went to Northern Oklahoma at Enid. He transfered the next year and played his last three at Missouri State.

Boy, ain't that the truth, I've been in a fog all day, I'm about ready to start over.

If she wasn't going to be eligible, I don't think Sherri would be recruiting her.

Yes, where was the post that indicated that OU is recruiting her? Oh yes, I believe that this is the post right here:

I believe that the visit would have been an unofficial one, with official visits starting in March.

James said the OU coaching staff asked Jelena Cerina to come on an unofficial visit because OU only has one more Official Visit on the year and Jelena Cerina is right in OU's back Yard. So I wonder who the last visit is for.

I don't know but if it is Shoni I would be thrilled.

+1, hope so.

The only fly in that ointment is that Shoni's dad indicated that OU was not among Shoni's last 8 schools. Other than that, wishful thinking is not bad for your health, at least.

It is interesting that OU is not currently being listed and Baylor is a late comer into the list of schools she is considering. I would say that either OU was left off inadvertantly or perhaps OU is no longer recruiting her as someone else suggested.

Regarding Shoni, we have one parent that says she should go east while the other says she should remain on the west coast. Thus far, I have not heard one word from Shoni. I will be interested to see who or what prevails. It might even be the grandmother.

Given a choice between the two, I think Jelena would be of more immediate help to the Sooners, expecially since we are losing AT & Abi this year. From the picture, it also looks like she has more size than the girl from Vincent . . .
