A friend sent me the following information that I thought was interesting:

The OU men 3 pt. shooting percentages are:

Cameron Clark------------.468
Tyler Neal----------------.424
Buddy Hield--------------.388
Jordan Woodard----------.362
Frank Booker-------------.361
Isaiah Cousins------------.361

Team---------------------.375

OU women's best 3 pt shooters are:

Morgan Hook--------------.358
Derica Wyatt--------------.345
Aaryn Ellenberg------------.344
Nicole Kornet--------------.317
Shaya Kellogg-------------.250
Gioya Carter---------------.200
Sharane Campbell----------.167

Team---------------------.309

In a 4-guard offense, you have problems if you can't shoot from the outside.

Norm, I have wondered why nobody mentions this very much. Last year we shot .366, big difference!

We have several problems with shooting this year and not all have to do with shooting skill.

We are getting hurt on rebounds particularly on the defensive end. This cuts down the running game where we have traditionally scored a lot of three point shots.

I don't see us doing much to get the three point shooter open so they are often shooting under pressure. We don't drive and kick off to a three point shooter much. Morgan is pretty much all the way no matter how tough the shot when she goes. Edwards is better at driving and dishing as is Carter. I don't see many off the ball screens and much movement off the ball.

We also shoot a lot of three point shots under pressure, out of rhythm and from too far out too much.

When OU is playing well, shots seem to fall. Of course, that means that you are playing defense, moving around a lot, and maybe getting some open shots. It's kind of difficult to stand around a lot and find an open shooter that will hit a three to save the possession, except that it does seem to happen to us.

I'm sure most of you noticed this but, all six players listed on the men's team shoot 3s at a high percentage than Sherri's best shooter (Morgan).

That is a staggering stat.

Sharane should never shoot a 3. Her % is embarrassing.

I am not going to include Kellogg because I would venture to say she has only shot 1 of 4 from 3 point range but we have 2 subs with much greater 3 point percentages than 2 starters. Wyatt and Kornet over Carter and Campbell. I know Kornet has started a lot of games, but she is a backup to Carter. I do not understand Coale in doing that. Kornet has had shooting problems this year, But I still take her over Carter. JMO

Kornet has been starting over Carter since her shooting has improved. Early on Kornet wasn't shooting well and had a lot of turnovers and bad fouls.

I hope that Maddie and Peyton can drive and shoot jump shots. We also need to find players who don't foul every 5 minutes.
