Should have been a technical/delay of game!!!

Not really. I think that is after the ball left

The same defender acquired the ball after he deflected that so would be interesting to see that. Doesn't matter now though. We had plenty of other chances.

If you don't want to call the technical in that situation, at least back Mason off and re-start the 5 second count. I feel like I see that all of the time.

I thought it was pretty obvious even in real time. He clearly made contact with Buddy which makes it all the more obvious (the violation is actually for breaking the plane of the baseline). I get that they might not want to call a t in that situation, but at least blow the whistle, warn the guy and back him off. I've definitely seen refs do that.

Oh well. Still a great game. OU wins that game with sharper free throw shooting and/or better ball security late in the game. We'll definitely get them in Norman.

At the very least, that should've happened.

They are really talking about the missed called on sports center , basically saying it was a bad call

Jeff Goodman and Scott Van Pelt said it was a bad no-call, and of course they're right. It was a great game and KU is terrific, but intentionally or not, the officials protected them in overtime. There is simply no other way to state it.

Yes, that is my understanding of the rule (but I could be wrong). There is an artificial plane and you are supposed to get one warning for reach across it and then a technical on second consecutive violation. Some are saying there is a 3-ft boundary but I am not aware of that.

I am not really complaining but it is interesting. When you play at KU you have to win it yourself - you cannot wait for a ref to make a good call. We had plenty of chances.

Also agree. Making contact with the inbounder is a Flagrant 1 regardless of the scale of contact (rule 4.15.2.2c).

It's funny how KU fans are whining and crying how the refs were out to screw them in this game. It was pretty clear the Sooners got the short end of the stick in this one.

They also missed a clear basket interference early in the first that should have been an and-1 for Buddy. It happens. If Khadeem just knocks down some FTs we win. They are so tough to put away at home. Great game but I think we're the better team. We'll get em in Norman. Toughest game we'll play the rest of the year. Love this team.

They better not be watching ESPN then, because they're not going to like what they hear about the final play.

You mean when he tipped the ball? Think about what you are saying.

It looked like he tipped it, then stepped out when ball was in the air, and then caught it back in bounds. Too hard to tell though. I don't even know If that is legal

That is technically what happened.

SVP and ESPN's "college hoops insider" Jeff Goodman discussed this play and showed it from a few different angles. I watched it frame by frame and that picture is after Mason tipped the ball. However, he landed in that position because he jumped toward Hield and the line when he tipped the ball, i.e. he was over the line in the air with his body and hands when he tipped the ball. As others have said, Goodman was saying it should've been called, and he mentioned the 3 foot rule (as someone else referenced).

Again, think about what you are saying. Re-read your post.

I assume there is a rule that you can't be the first one to touch a ball after going out of bounds or some jazz like tvat

If you are out of bounds, you have to establish yourself inbounds again before you can touch the ball again.

Lol mason just said the ref told him to give him space but that there was nothing he could do about it after he handed him the ball so he stepped closer

I heard that also. And my brain nearly exploded.
