Sittler hits on the positives and negatives of the Kruger hire

"Now the Sooners AD has a coach who turns 59 in August. For his own career, Capel better hope Kruger is still at OU when the new Sooners' coach officially becomes a senior citizen."

Good grief, does the DOK never proofread?
I seriously doubt the DOK proofreads the Tulsa World

"Please forgive Dave. He's still sore from humping Self's leg." :D

Sittler is the most clueless and least athletic scribe in the history of sport. He never played a sport past 5th grade.

Sittler:Castiglione obviously thinks so. He also has to hope so for personal reasons. His future as the Sooners' AD could be in Kruger's hands.

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione better hope his latest coaching hire turns out to be his second one for the ages.

After getting burned in his attempt to go with a youth movement, Castiglione has turned to one of college coaching's elder statesmen to bring stability back to a men's basketball program that was out of control under the previous two coaches.

Sittler's article makes it sound like Joe would be in trouble if Kruger flops. What an idiot and it is always about him. I have heard so many dopey stories about him that make me laugh.

he also seems to forget know matter who the coach is the next 7 years you have to still pay them something

Not sure why you think it's a prerequisite that a writer needs to be athletic

many of the best sportswriters in history didn't have an athletic bone in their bodies.

As a matter of fact, I was just re-reading "Death of a Racehorse" again tonight. I am pretty sure WC Heinz was neither athletic nor a horse, yet it remains probably the finest sports article ever written.

Athletic or completely non-athletic. Yes to some degree you have to have some athleticism. Sittler has none, nada, zip, zilch. I don't think you have to be a starter on your jr. high team but participation is a must for me. I just know a lot about him and think he is a weasel. Not a bad guy mind you.

Mike Lupica and Mitch Albom were Parade All Americans
