Wow. Really? You kind of just proved my point. Everyone has an opinion. Even if something they say is not entirely accurate, it's not your job to come on here and correct every single person and put them in their place. I can see why you have had issues with previous chatters.

Anyway, when we played Washington that year and beat them, were they even ranked? Certainly not a highly ranked team if so. Its funny that I just knew you'd bring that one win up. I'm not saying I hope they will do poorly, or even as I projected, Just from watching the past several seasons and how the Big 12 has been, I project 21 wins. I hope you are correct about Mandy, but history has proven that SC can recruit a few duds. I really really hope she proves me wrong. Sorry if this upsets you, or if you disagree.

A friendly disagreement about Mandy. I see the problems with her-she is not "nimble" and has problems on defense with someone quick. She will not become a power forward like Amanda Thompson. But I like her toughness, her ability to rebound-8 rebounds in 25 minutes last night- and she has good hands. Every team has need of a player to set (hard) screens, rebound, do the little nitty gritty things that don't show on stats but help you win. She and Gabbi block out hard on rebounding, which don't show but help your team get rebounds.
I hope I am right about her being a valuable contributor, but I do see why you might have doubts.

I don't know if there is a disagreement since I think it is too early to have an opinion.

It looked like we had a problem with SMU doing something a bit different from what we had seen. They contested the outside, even taking a few risks. But, as soon as we penetrated or took a shot, it seemed that all five crashed the lane. It was difficult to drive through, and we kept getting too far under on drives, and they were also filling the lanes to pass it back out. The crashing inside may be what gave Vivi some problems.

Once we saw what they were doing, it appeared that Sherri had Maddie penetrate enough to draw traffic. Then, she dished. It resulted in wide open shots. Fortunately, Ana hit them. She also drew traffic leaving EJ wide open. Others got too far under. They got their hands on shots, and, for some reason, they weren't being called. We were called on anything inside. They were doing some shoving and not being called. It worked out once we saw what they were doing.

Adams got 25. But, you should be willing to let her get 25 if she has to shoot 27 shots to get it. Usually, if you shoot 29.6% from the field, you lose. She was bailed out by free throws, but not enough to overcome 8 for 27. We used to see the same thing from Riley. But, it only works if you have someone else hitting well, like Whitfield's 4 of 5 from three.

It's not too early to know that our defense is the some ole, same ole.

We are 2-1. We've played three decent teams. SMU did lose at UTA. DePaul lost to Northern Colorado which may not be all that bad. They appear to be pretty good.

Belmont turned around and walloped Tulsa and IPFW. Tulsa had also lost to American. But, they turned around and beat Ark Little Rock at their house as well as getting a win over Missouri-Kansas City. So. Belmont may be a pretty good team, and we beat them solidly. We were down a bit against SMU. Just didn't shoot well in that game. A bit flat.

Baylor lost by about fourteen to UCLA. Apparently, missing two starters does hurt, especially after graduating Prince, Davis, and losing Mompremier. Kansas State barely beat North Texas in Denton. We know how that can go. Texas State seems to beat everyone in Texas in softball. They beat Tech pretty solidly in basketball before TCU got to them. TCU may be better than I had thought.

Having attended 4 games, my conclusions are:

1. Maddie has a lot on her plate to develop into a point guard. We’ll see if it works, but I like her better at the 3.
2. The freshmen are making freshmen mistakes. Important that they develop before conference play.
3. With only 9 players, wemust avoid silly fouls.
4. Sherrie needs to sub less. The starting 5 should be able to go 30 to 35 minutes. I’ve said it in the past, conditioning is number 1 especially for post players. We need Vivi on the court as many minutes as we can get.
5. Unforced turnovers are another problem that persists year after year.
6. Shaina needs to be the point guard on this team.
By January, the starters should be Shaina, Ana, Gabbi, Maddie and Vivi.

While Shaina is the point guard of tomorrow, we would have lost the SMU game had not Maddie completely taken over at point in the fourth quarter. Shaina doesn't know how to do that yet. Maddie scored or assisted on ten straight points to get the lead back up to ten.
