I would go with:

1. Stoops
2. Gasso
3. Williams
4. Kindler
5. Sherri
6. Kruger

Stoops gets the nod from me simply because he has won a NC and it is more difficult to run a program that has so many players and assistant coaches in an environment where recruiting is just brutal. I could not give Sherri or Lon a higher ranking than those coaches who have won national championships. Lon hasn't been here long but he has certainly improved the program in a fairly short period of time.

I would switch Stoops and Gasso though it's close. I think her recruiting is stronger than his.

Her winning percentage is lower than his but how long will it take him to reach 1,000 career wins? (joke)

So I have to ask about Bryant and Hofstra. Are they anything to be concerned about?

Gasso is Big 12 COY. POY and FReshman of Year went to Fexas players. Canion of Baylor was Pitcher of Year. Thought Pendley might be POY.

Stevens should have been pitcher of the year and Self should have been POY easily! Patty thought they were both no brainers and said so on Rounding 3rd which was taped yesterday. Canion was probably sympathy pick after finishing her 6th year! We finished 3 games ahead of 2nd place and Stevens is 2nd in the NATION in number of wins and she got much stronger after conference season started. Self was batting .553 with 38 AB and a whorn with 17 AB batted .647. Closest to Self with similar number of AB was .458. Hopefully, this gives the team a little more edge to them for the regionals.

Well, tycat ol' buddy; it looks like you and I are just going to have to start picking the players/coaches for post-season honors. Lord knows they need someone with a little common sense (and no texas prejudice) to take over those duties. :D

I agree! I guess the rest of the Big 12 is tired of the Sooners!

That's okay, let them take the post season awards, we'll just keep winning National Championships. That will shut them up!!!!!!!;)

It's a deal!

By the way, anyone have any updates on Chamberlain's condition and her prospects for playing in the regionals?

Lauren is expected to play this weekend.

Thanks, Norm. Having Lauren on the field – and at the plate – will have a very leveling effect on the playing field if (when) the Sooners make it back to the WCWS.

I don't have a feel for Williams but I don't think there is near the competition in mens gymnastics as with the women so it is probably an apples and oranges comparison. Kindler has advanced the womens program light years and it appears better is to come. Almost all of her participants improve or match their career highs every year.

I would rank Kruger over Sherri but again it is an apples and oranges comparison. Both took over the program in very bad shape but there is a huge difference in the time on the job.

Their recruits possibly have about the same star rankings but Lon seems to get more players that fit in while Sherri has had a fair number who have not really contributed or have moved away. I also feel that Lon is a stronger X's and O's coach.

You really have to give Gasso credit. I felt that her last two recruiting classes were weak but several of them who didn't do much as a freshman have blossomed with regular play. Apparently she has a strong class coming in the next two years. She is also creative. For example, I watched her indoor batting practice once and was very interested in that she had players swinging and missing several pitches. Interesting way to force them to follow the ball all the way to the plate. Never heard of that technique before. May be more prevalent than I think.

I think Stoops let his program fade a bit until he cleaned house with the assistant coaches. They appear to be back on track again.

I'm glad we have them all. Hard to rank them because they have such different competitive situations. I also have high hopes for some of the new coaches that Joe C has brought in.

We had one American team that had something like six of eight slots filled by OU gymnasts, and that was our national team. Williams had by far the most dominant team in the nation. Probably would have won it all this year had it not been on Michigan's home floor. He is about to gymnastics what Geno is to women's basketball. You wonder when we don't win.

The women are getting there. There are really only about six to eight serious contenders. As I understand, there have been exactly six teams that have won every gymnastics title, and four of the six were in the finals this year. The other two just missed. That's a pretty small field.

Recruiting for gymnastics is very different. You are recruiting areas that have families who have enough wealth that they have probably spent $100,000 on coaching by the time their kid is ready for college. We have very fortunate ties to two key areas: the Plano area and the Napierville, IL area (via Conners). A lot of teams have gymnasts from these areas. Very different type of recruiting.

They have determined Lauren has a partially torn PCL and they will wait until game time to see if she can play tomorrow.
