A lot of work on your part for this post the good wins post. Good info. But there is an obvious typo on UCLA wins. You post 35 wins instead of 25 wins.

The first rpi is out today. It is still raw and has a lot of movement coming.

I suspect that this picture is emerging:

---unless Alabama emerges, once they begin to play someone, the SEC seems to have no giant this year. Florida is down a bit, Kentucky only had about a 9-7 record, but they played a good preseason schedule, and they are yet to lose in the SEC.

---I have no idea where to put Ole Miss yet.

---Georgia and South Carolina are falling like rocks.

---The Big Ten has more depth than normal. I don't think anyone will get through the conference without three losses. Indiana, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Illinois have risen up to challenge Michigan and Minnesota.

---UCLA is good. They have remained near home for the most part.

---I don't think we will run-rule Tech three times this year. They are pretty good.

---Is our pitching actually improved over last year? Is it just that we have not been playing the best teams the last couple of weeks? We are dominating, striking out ten to twelve in run-rule shortened games. Juarez has emerged.

-Good losses:

---3-11 (5) Arizona, Tucson, AZ
---4-7 Notre Dame, Tallahassee, FL

Of the 10 good wins and 2 good losses Mariah has started 4 games, "G" 7 games and Shannon 1 game. "G" appears to clearly be Patty's ace to date. But Mariah's numbers are better 0.61 vs 1.57 era, 1 vs 6 HR- and, 1.55 K's/inning. "G" issues a BB every 5.67 innings and Mariah a BB every 3.82 innings.

Also only 6 (Baylor 3 games, 1 at each of NTS, Tulsa and #13 OSU) of our remain 23 regular season games are in Norman. We have 3 games series at #14 Texas Tech, #5 Texas, Kansas, ISU and 2 games at #13 OSU and Utah and 1 at Wichita State.

Actually, so far OU's pitching is better than it has ever been. Now, that is a big statement because I don't think it was ever better than 2013 with Ricketts and Gascoigne. The approach is totally different with OU pitching for strikeouts rather than pitching to contact. This is the big difference between Rocha and Lombardi. It certainly takes a lot of pressure off the defense.

That being said, people should not underestimate G Juarez, she was a first team AA last year and led her team to the WCWS. She shut out UCLA and Washington last year. She is 11-0 on the year. The irony is that her ERA is 1.57 which is the highest among OU's big three. She also has 10.11 K/7 ratio. Lopez has an 10-1 record with an ERA of 0.61 and a 10.87 K/7 ratio. Shannon Saile has a 4-1 record with 3 saves an ERA of 1.20 and a whopping 13.20 K/7 ratio. As a team, OU has an ERA of 1.09 ERA and a K/7 ratio of 10.86.

In this weekend's matchup, OU has decided advantages in pitching and fielding. Tech has stolen a bunch of bases but that will NOT happen against OU as is detailed by the RCS percentage. For Tech, they must overcome the slaughter from last six years knowing many of those veteran players are still playing for OU. Beware that Alo started hitting this past weekend, her bat is important to OU as the season progresses. One final thing is Tech's batters strike out a lot and that sets up for Coach Rocha's new style of pitching.

By comparison, OU vs Tech Pitching
IP OU-167 Tech-181
H OU-79 Tech-128
ER OU-26 Tech-49
BB OU-35 Tech-69
K OU-259 Tech-185
K/7 OU-10.86 Tech-7.15
Hr OU-13 Tech-7
ERA OU-1.09 Tech 1.90

By Comparison, OU vs Tech Fielding
Fielding Pct OU-.985 Tech-.980
E OU-9 Tech-15
RCS% OU-50% Tech-29.4%

By Comparison, OU vs. Tech Hitting
G OU-27 Tech-29
AB OU-707 Tech-742

By the way, the Big Ten is fool's gold in Softball.

I haven't looked at the game-by-game structure of Tech yet to see if they have an ace who has pitched for them in their games against someone like Auburn or Washington when they played them. I think that if we were to face UCLA or Florida State again, we would prefer to put Juarez on the mound instead of Lopez and Saile who I think got those starts. Juarez started slow.

The Big ten has done some damage this year: Michigan crashing UCLA and Washington, Minnesota taking two of three from Texas in Austin, Indiana exposing Georgia in Florida, and LSU in Baton Rouge. Wisconsin took down Texas and Arizona State in Tempe. Michigan got ASU in Tempe as well.

Tech's ace Missy Zoch is a transfer from DePaul that has a 1.17 era, 10-0 record with 12 starts and 18 appearances with no HR-A. Major improvement over her 2 years at DePaul. I suspect she will start games 1 & 3.

https://stats.ncaa.org/player/index...layer_seq=1874318&year_stat_category_id=14661

Not sure she is the ace, I think it is Edmondson. Zoch has pitched 66 innings this year While Edmondson has pitched 83.1.

In the big games that Zoch pitched this year, these were the results:

Feb 8 Nebraska IP-2.2 H-4 R-6 ER-4
Feb 9 Nebraska IP-4.2 H-5- R-1 ER-1 Win
Feb 15 UAB IP-3 H-3 R-2 ER-2
Feb 16 Auburn IP-3.2 H-3 R-2 ER-0 Win

In the big games that Edmondson pitched this year, these were the results:

Feb 8 Nebraska IP-4.1 H-8 R-4 ER-4 Win
Feb 9 Nebraska IP-2.1 H-0 R-0 ER-0 Save
Feb 9 Wisconsin IP-3.1 H-3 R-2 ER-2 Win
Feb 16 Auburn IP-3.1 H-4 R-2 ER-2 Win
Feb 21 Arizona State IP-5 H-1 R-0 ER-0 Win
Feb 23 Oregon IP-7 H-4 R-0 ER-0 Win
Feb 24 Washington IP-4 H-5 R-4 ER-4 Loss
Mar 16 Memphis IP-5 H-5 R-2 ER-2 Loss

Last year when Tech came to Norman, Edmondson was 13-4 but they did not pitch her in Game 1 or Game 3. I remember me saying something about it at the game because she was their ace. They did pitch her in Game 2. She is a lefty which is advantage against most teams but not OU especially now with Ricketts in town pitching BP. Her line was as follows:

Mar 24, 2018 Oklahoma IP-3.1 H-7 R-7 ER-6 BB-4

Oklahoma 1st - Romero, S. flied out to cf (2-1 BBK). Mendes, N. grounded out to p (1-0 B). Alo, Jocelyn walked (3-1 BBBKB). Aviu, Fale popped up to 2b (3-2 KBBFB). 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 1 LOB.

Oklahoma 3rd - Romero, S. walked (3-2 BFBBFFFFB). Mendes, N. grounded out to p (0-1 S); Romero, S. advanced to second. Alo, Jocelyn walked (3-0 BBBB). Aviu, Fale doubled to left center, RBI (0-0); Alo, Jocelyn advanced to third; Romero, S. scored. Pendley, N. reached on an error by 1b, RBI (1-1 BK); Aviu, Fale scored; Alo, Jocelyn scored. Knighten, S. singled up the middle (0-0); Pendley, N. advanced to third. Clifton, C. singled, bunt, RBI (1-1 BF); Knighten, S. advanced to second; Pendley, N. scored, unearned. Clifton, C. advanced to second; Knighten, S. out at third c to 2b to 3b, caught stealing. Wodach, Lea walked (3-1 BBSBB). Taukeiaho, V pinch hit for Arnold, K.. Taukeiaho, V popped up to 2b (2-2 KBSBFF). 4 runs, 3 hits, 1 error, 2 LOB.

Oklahoma 4th - Romero, S. singled to center field (3-1 BBFB). Mendes, N. reached on a fielder's choice (0-0); Romero, S. out at second 1b to ss. Alo, Jocelyn homered to left field, 2 RBI (3-2 BBBKK); Mendes, N. scored. C. Powell to p for Edmoundson. Aviu, Fale flied out to rf (3-2 KBBFBFFF). You are correct. My bad I looked at Zock's 1.17 era, 10-0 record and 12 starts which is 1 more than Edmondson's and assumed. We all know what happens when you assume. Too damn old to remember Edmondson from last year despite watching her play at Marita Hynes. No excuse.

North Texas/OU is on FoxSportsOK at 6:00 tonight.

There may be a tendency to take North Texas lightly. They can beat you, as Texas A&M discovered in College Station (10-2), and Louisiana-Lafayette discovered in Waco, 5-1. They are 16-9.

Not to put down North Texas, but beating A&M is really nothing to brag about. The win over Louisiana was nice, though.

As an added note, OU has its third longest winning streak against North Texas at 29 games and has NEVER lost to North Texas. OU also has a 41 game home winning streak dating back to a loss to North Dakota State in the 2017 Softball Regionals in Norman.

8-0 run rule as Lopez pitches a five inning no-hitter. Misses a perfect game by a walk. Runner doubled off first on the next pitch.

It appears Rocha may have tighten Lopez's windup/delivery. Mariah was really sharp with great control of her pitches. She really hit her spots.

Weather Forces Time Changes in Texas Tech, Oklahoma Series
https://texastech.com/news/2019/3/2...me-changes-in-texas-tech-oklahoma-series.aspx

LUBBOCK, Texas – Due to inclement weather in the surrounding area, Friday and Sunday's games against the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners have been moved up.

Originally scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 22, game one has been moved up to 2 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's game time remains unchanged but Sunday's 1 p.m. contest has been moved to 12:30 p.m.

OU @ Texas Tech
> 2:00 PM Friday
> 4:00 PM Saturday
> 12:30 PM Sunday

Fortunately, I drove to Lubbock yesterday. The weather is questionable today but will be fantastic tomorrow and Sunday. Go Sooners!!!

I'm very jealous of you, Speedy. ;)

But I'll be listening for you cheering on the radio.

With you in Lubbock the onus is on you to get the Sooners to score a half dozen runs on Zoch.

OU up 3-1 after 3 on 2 run triple by Mendes in the top of the 3rd. "G" in the circle. Aviu homers with CC on base go up 5-1 middle of the 4th. Sooners left the base loaded in the 5th. They have stranded 8 today through 5.

Two big hits and a strong pitching performance. Aviu's two-run home run and Mendes two-run triple combined for the four run difference.

I was worried when they got a single and triple off Juarez in the first. Can the better teams hit her? She settled down to allow only a single.

Aviu was pretty good on her birthday.
