Some Harrison Barnes stuff

Apparently Barnes showed up to his teammates signing day press conference today wearing an Iowa State t-shirt. Also, his signing press conference, which will be held inside his gym, will be open to the public and refreshments will be served.

What does this mean? It means the 'Clone fans are getting all geeked up thinking this could be their day. Here is one interesting blog post, followed by several responses, from the Iowa State faithful.....

That said, the latest rumors are that it's between UNC, UCLA, and Iowa State. I personally think Duke is still a player, but from reading Harrison's visit to OU, I don't see why they'd still be in the mix.... But then again, people are better off just not guessing and taking the news any which-way.

No prob. Barnes has been doing a write-up for each school he's visited, I think with Dime Magazine. I write from the perspective that a somewhat hardcore ISU fan is reading my site, therefore they know about these writeups.

From reading the visits, it seemed like he was less impressed with OU than other schools. I think he likes the coach without a doubt. He visited the weekend when OU was at Miami. Campus was dead, and a lot of the trip was spent watching the football game on TV.I don't know Barnes personally, but he's not really into football.

When he visited UCLA, he got to eat lunch with Coach Wooden. When he went to UNC, he got to meet all of these Carolina Alums like MJ, Vince Carter, etc...

I don't have any inside information, but I just don't think OU is the best fit for him, based on interests that he's expressed. You never know though.

I saw Telep, Goodman, or Daniels maybe rank the schools on probability of getting Barnes. The rank was 5-2 UNC, 5-2 Duke, 10-1 KU, 30-1 OU, and 100-1 ISU. I started wondereing how did he come up with those numbers? But then if you look at the National perception of each of the programs, that's how he got it. These guys dont know anything. Barnes isn't saying anything, and these guys and these message board homers are spouting off as if they have some sort of inside information.

correction, this was the Vegas odds. UCLA came in at 45-1. OMG, when has vegas started running odds on recruits?

Those odds aren't "really" real. This was on an ISU board because people wanted to throw down some cash on those 100 to 1 odds for ISU, but couldn't find anywhere to do it. Someone even contacted some sportsbooks and casinos....

It isn't going to be OU.

I also don't think it'll be ISU. If you were going to make THAT big of a shocking announcement, would you lessen the excitement by wearing an ISU tshirt 2-3 days before you announced? Or would you either not wear a teams' tshirt, or even wear a "decoy"? His moms works at ISU, I'm sure he has more ISU garb then he knows what to do with.

We'll see.

Yeah it was a nice courtesy of HB to put us in his top 5, but it hasn't changed the rest of the country's perception of OU. Half the time when mentioning us, they refer to OU as OK or OKL. Its going to take more than BG and an elite 8 to change that.

I'd give us about a 1% chance of signing HB, I'm just being realistic.
The optimist enjoys the ride, the pessimist isn't suprised when its over.

His teammate did not sign with ISU, but rather UNI.

I think Harrison likes your coach, but I would say him signing with OU would be the most shocking selection, all things considered.

If WWIII does, what I know he can, than yes that would be huge. But doesn't have an affect on this years recruits. Maybe the ones that are waiting til spring to sign, but a championship is needed. Top 20 kids already know they have a good shot at the NBA, no matter where they go.
