Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

My 2 cents on game:

good offense, aggressive, seems lots of scorers this year.
quiet 21 from Young
11 assist from Shep
17 from Man quick release nice stroke
Lazenby seemed to press the scoring.
Pollas 4/4 keeps ball high

% for the FG and 3's very well...FT's not so much.
assist to TO ratio 23/9

Defense:
well...lol glad it was a 1st game. Seemed to really struggle with the hedge and recover. That team sat a ton of picks, did a good job of finding open guys...we'd run out, they'd pump fake and drive. Got beat over the top, even after a made shot.. All things that will get better.

I could have sworn the aussie's made more than 9 3's...man seemed like they hit 20..lol.

honestly can't believe we won by almost 40....they way the scoring went. Lots of playground ball.

Spot on analysis, Soonerinkc! The defense does need some work, but that will come in time.

Loved the tweets, OUHoops! :chestram2:

What a great experience for these young men! I feel sure it's one they'll never forget.

It's also easy to see why Matt is proud of his family and his homeland. The people of Auckland Were gracious hosts. I hope the team's rewarding trip so far continues in Australia.

Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

Here's a fun fact. We play the Cairns Taipans for the last game on this trip. The Taipans feature former Dayton guard Scoochie Smith. He played against us in the 2015 Tourney - had 16 points to lead the Flyers:

It wouldn't surprise me if he plays flat. Why am I up at this hour? Why I'm practicing for tomorrow, obviously.

You know we had a game about the time you posted this right?

Looking at Polla you'd think the rest of them were small

Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

So one more game left on the trip?

Yes, Sunday at 1:00 a.m, as in one hour after midnight. I may have to watch the replay on that one. Two straight mornings at 4:30 is more than this old guy can take.

Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

yeah. I am dragging. not a young man any more.

Be there or be an aging square. I'll supply the espresso. Limit is 5 cups, although you are probably starting to crave blood instead.

:ez-roll::ez-roll:

Depends on how I feel around midnight. I rarely go to bed before than anyway. But, man, my old butt has been draggin' following two straight mornings of getting up well before sunrise. One of the perks of being retired is that I can sleep in if I want. I don't do it too often. But between you and me (don't tell anyone), I went back to bed after the game was over this morning.

That's what beds are for as I did the same thing, which means I'll be counting the stars tonight. And the weekend is coming at just the right time.

Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

This final game is the most enjoyable to watch of the three streamed on FB Live. Not sure if it's the camera angle, the lighting or what, but it's pretty easy to follow the game.

I hope this officiating crew doesn't emigrate to the USA, though. Sheesh, they're doing all they can to keep the Aussie team in it (not that it's helping much).

Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

this team we're playing in this last game has by far the most talent of all those weve seen. Plus they're well coached.

Re: >>>>>Sooners Down Under Update Thread<<<<<

OU has been good in this game against actual talent. Polla was impressive.
