Sooners vs. UConn - The Evil Empire

Atlest kids who come to OU between now and 2020 will get a chance to play UConn...

If Penzo would have played the last 2 seasons, she would be more prepared for a game like this...

Lot closer than I thought it would be in 1st half

the OU men looking okay in their game up by almost 20 at the half

I thought OU played well in the first half. That simply defines how well Connecticut played. They did out-rebound us 20-11. We had some silly turnovers and poor shot selection by the bench. Did OK with the starting five on turnovers and mistakes. Had a few defensive lapses, especially with Simpson and EJ in the post.

Find it interesting that they keep bringing up that Sherri likes the Manning/Samuelson matchup. So far, Maddie is winning. Maddie and Ana with 24 of OU's 33.

Nice effort by the team, I think we can challenge Texas and Baylor...

Little closer than I thought it would be but at the end. I was thinking more like 30-50 point loss but it's still a loss.

I think we did about as good as we could against this dynasty.

They successfully took Manning out of the game when she scored 15. I don’t know why we don’t set more screens to get Gabbi Open with that tight coverage.

I think, if we don’t let this send us into the dumps, that we will do alright in conference play.

We will be competitive.

If you had told me that with four minutes to go in the third quarter Geno had to call a time out to stop an OU run as we pulled to within seven, I would have been shocked. We came apart a little at the end---foul trouble, freshmen turnovers, fatigue. But, that was a good game until ten seconds left in the third.

If they are fatigued now, what will they be like in Feb and March?

Two weeks ago, I was really afraid of a program embarrasing/damaging loss something like 105-55.
The team played hard. Just outclassed talent wise. Outplayed Uconn for most of the 3rd quarter which was nice to see.
Just need better Jimmies and Joes as Coach Switzer liked to say. Some are incoming more are needed.

Only having 9 hurts against a team like UConn. I liked the way they battled.

Fouls hurt as did missed free throws.

The freshmen still rush things.

We just don’t have an answer for when Vivi tires or is in foul trouble.

I was surprise Geno still had his starters in the game late when he was up 35 points or so. Pretty sure he wasn’t happy with the way they played. A lot of that had to do with our intensity.

Part of the problem last night lies with the coaches because of the short bench. Our girls played great but just tired out, Sherri needs to fill out her scholarships so there is depth.

Very pleased with the way the played in such an environment, congrats to Geno

Connecticut only played six players until the last few minutes, so why are our players tired if theirs are not?

I wish I could like this 1,000 times. I’m so tired of this narrative that fatigue is a factor with a 9 person rotation. When is the last time Sherri used an 11 or 12 man rotation going into conference play? 9 is a fine rotation number. Some schools narrow to 7 or 8 at this point in season. Please stop with the fatigue excuse.

They were dead tired, but that isn't the reason OU lost. OU lost because of far better talent and coaching on the UConn side.
