Spangler, Walker come through with subtle contributions

Walker kept shooting and I was not happy until his big 3 in the 2nd half. everything was way off and has been for awhile. Steady Ball handling, solid defender.

Had James not had the foot injury, I'm thinking he would have played more Saturday and less for Walker. That's what we need to happen because Walker doesn't understand when he shouldn't be shooting and he's a liability on both ends of the floor.

Walker has to shoot that wide open shot. He's not the best shooter in the world, but if he's not going to shoot when he's wide open it's going to kill our offense because they can just ignore him. He has to pull the trigger on wide open 3s, and hopefully he can make them at a better rate than he's been doing.

Agreed. If he's wide open, he needs to shoot (as much as it pains me to watch his shot half the time)

Which has been my recent beef with Spangler. He had a couple open shots from the top of the key that he didn't take. I get he's been down on his 3s but he should take that open mid range shot

The announcers had words of praise for Walker during the game on Saturday, which contrasted greatly with the utter lambasting he was taking in the game thread.

:ez-roll:

I wasn't on the game thread but I was lambasting him at home. Before the one he made the others were so far off it wasn't funny. The worst though is when he drives into the lane and stops. Drives me crazy.

You weren't alone. I was screaming, get him out of there when none of the shots he took before the three he made had a chance to go in.

When Dinijyl squares up and shoots in rhythm, I don't get upset if he misses. He's very capable of making those shots. It's that weird hitch in his shot where he kicks his legs out sideways I don't like.

It is SOOOO much nicer to watch the game after DVR'ing it. Especially after a win! lol.

Even during the 0-9 run by wv in the 2nd half I was really calm! I recommend this to everyone!

LOL. You're right; I've watched the WVU game three times on my DVR and I never had a single doubt we'd win.

Getting back to Walker: That late three wasn't the only shot he made against WVU. Remember that contested layup he got to fall after driving to the basket earlier in the game? He's done that quite a bit this year.

He'll break out of his slump enough that teams can't just leave him wide open from 3. That will be more than enough from him for the limited minutes he plays.

The article lists the plus/minus for Dinjyl in big12 play at -52. Yikes! Anyone know where to find plus/minus stats for the whole team?

Ya I'm not a believer in those +/- stats. How do they quantify things like tipping a ball to a teammate for the rebound ect.

-52? That's ridiculous..

In fairness to Dyjinil, he comes in for Buddy Hield a lot of the time, which is not going to help the team's +/-

No, I've seen him subbed more for Woodard lately. He and Woodard are both so short they should never be on the court together, IMHO but I trust Lon to do what he thinks is best. He's qualified for that at least. :D
