One thing that seemed to happen to him as the year wore on was that he became too concerned about getting his shot blocked in the paint. There were times that I would have liked to see him take it up strong immediately on the catch or rebound and MAKE the defense block him.

I am hoping this year (especially if Thomas is granted immediate eligibility) that he will have more confidence in going right at the defenders chest/chin.

That and I hope he is shooting midrange jumpers like a mad-man this summer!

Definitely excited to see him build on his first year as a sooner. :OUbball-logo:

Yeah, that was a problem as the season progressed. I think we will see a big difference in this area.

I think by the second half of next season he'll be putting up numbers like Osby did in his senior year if we have any focus at all on scoring inside.

Ryan was, for all intents and purposes, basically a freshman last season. After all, he played very little during his freshman year at Gonzaga before transferring and having to sit out a year. With that in mind, he was learning the game on the go for the Sooners last year…and he still managed to lead the league (or at least be near the top) in rebounding.

I expect we'll see a vastly improved Spangler when the 2014-15 season opens this November. In fact, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm when I think about the possibility of him and Thomas in the post together.

I'm just glad we'll be able to give him some rest this year. Dude was warn out at the end of last season.
