Staff Salaries

They make plenty of money for a sport that brings in pretty much nothing in terms of revenue.

Exactly. Just like with any company typically the more revenue you generate the more you get paid. I'm sure the CEO of Toyota makes more than the CEO of Kia.

Really? You think the primary job description of coaches at state-run collegiate athletic programs is to generate revenue, just like a for-profit corporation?

Then we better fire every coach at the University of Oklahoma not named Bob Stoops or Jeff Capel.

Not fire, but their salaries are justified (in theory) because of the money they bring to the school.

They do not bring any money to the school. They lose money. Millions. They hemorrhage money. If the University of Oklahoma was anything like Toyota or Kia, their positions would have been eliminated years ago.

I agree that their salaries are justified.

So you tell me why college coaches get paid what they do?
Why does a basketball coach make so much more money than every other educator on campus?

How does Bob Stoops lose OU millions of dollars?

You do realize Tony is referring to ever sport but Football and Men's basketball right?

You should read it again.

"Not fire, but their salaries are justified (in theory) because of the money they bring to the school."
-Me (thebigabd)

"They do not bring any money to the school. They lose money. Millions. They hemorrhage money."
-You (tony)

It still reads the same. Did you write in code?

I think there was a miscommunication on who "they" is?

If basic English is code, then yes.

There is no miscommunication on my part. Who were you referring to when you said "Not fire...?" It seems obvious that it was a response to my point that all Oklahoma coaches other than Jeff Capel and Bob Stoops should be fired if NCAA athletics is supposed to be a moneymaking venture.

Oronde made more than Cline? Thats strange....

Question everyone need to ask is why did Oronde leave he made more than the assistant to the headcoach,Cline recruited 2 of the 3 highschool players this yr so it cant be based on recruiting and why did Cline really leave and take a 50,000 paycut.

Oronde left because there was trouble up ahead for him from what I hear. Cline left to be back home where he came from. He's made plenty of money and will be fine.

How was he referring to every sport other than Football and Men's basketball when I specifically said that Stoops and Capel get paid more than women's basketball because they generate more money for the AD department and he argued the fact?
The fact of the matter is coaches are paid what they are to generate revenue for their schools.
