OU loses their top two scorers to graduation ... Romero Osby and Steven Pledger. Combined, Osby and Pledger averaged 30 points per game (PPG) in Big-12 Conference games. In addition, seniors Sam Grooms and Andrew Fitzgerald each averaged about 6 PPG in the conference.

OU averaged scoring 73.6 PPG in conference games. The four departing seniors averaged 42.6 PPG, or 58% of the total.

I would think that OU needs at least 3 double-digit scorers next season. Who will they be?

M'Baye and Hield seem like good bets to score in double figures, and I think Clark or Hornbeak might as well. I'm not sure what to expect from Spangler or the incoming recruits, but maybe we'll get some good offensive contributions there.

Hield & m'baye. Then Spangler, hornbeak, and Woodard could average anywhere from 7-12 points

MBaye 17 ppg
Hornbeak and Heild - 10 ppg

I expect M'Baye to have the highest scoring season at OU since Blake since he's the main option coming back and one of the few post scoring threats.

I definitely think we'll see Amath take the reins his senior year and really improve on a Junior season that was kind of up and down, but a good season overall. So a lot like Osby and his Junior/Season (Ro was more consistent IMO his Jr year).

I think Amath will average around 14-15 points a game and average about the same number of rebounds. Spangler and to a lesser extent Bennett will be the rebound guys down low. I think Buddy will be around 11-13 PPG next season, and depending on whether he's starting or coming off the bench, Clark could get around 8-10 next year. Hornbeak to get around 7-10 and up his 3 point shooting next year. He's got a good stroke and he can be a threat from the outside.

I think next year is going to be rough. Luckily, just about everyone across the conference should be down next year. I expect Texas will be better, but KSU, KU, OSU, and Baylor will almost all certainly be worse.

Regardless, this team has struggled with offense this year, and our only two legitimate offensive threats are leaving, plus the point guard who runs things is gone as well.

I disagree.
I definitely do think we'll miss Osby, but I expect next year's team to be about the same or better.
Players generally make their biggest improvement between their first and second season. I think Hield, Hornbeak, and Cousins will all show a lot of improvement. If Spangler comes in and contributes like expected, and Booker does a good job knocking down 3s, we'll be dangerous in a down league.

I am torn on what to think about our team next year. On one hand, I think it is practical to assume that losing our Seniors will hurt. On the other hand, we have some talent here that might be able to pick that up or maybe even better it.

One thing that I do know is that I am excited to watch our team with Lon as our coach. I loved watching OU this year. I can't wait to see what the future holds. :krugs:OUbball-logo:
