Stay Classy Duke

I'd love to hear the specifics.

I'd love for the bitter 12 to get over it. LK has us on the verge of the tourney, and they are still crying about JC. :facepalm:facepalm

Time for EVERYONE to move on.

I vaguely remember it, so I'm not saying any more than this, but more than one person suggested Capel was pretty ugly to the people that worked in the basketball offices. That is what I saw posted. That basically the image that a lot of this board has/had of him, which is that of a patron saint that was a terrible basketball coach, wasn't really accurate.

Some secretary didn't like him? Who freaking cares. This doesn't make him a bad guy. Furthermore the stories were that he came to work late and that didn't sit well with some of the staff people.

LOL

So you didn't know what people were hinting about, but now you remember the story?

Believe what you want. And others can believe what they want. I've seen enough smoke that I don't think Capel treated people very well. That is what I choose to believe.

Yes I did not tie his arrival time at the office to him being a bad guy. Bad guy to me implies cheating, abusive behavior etc. coming to work at 9:30 or when ever he came to work does not remotely make him a bad guy in my opinion.

I don't know why anybody would care what time he showed up at the office, unless he was constantly blowing off appointments with people.

That said, like I mentioned above, the stories I heard would likely constitute "verbal abuse". I have no proof, just the stories I've heard from people who might know. Believe what you will.

Many of the same type of complaints were made against Kelvin when he left, and I'm sure you didn't believe those. People were on this very board complaining about how he didn't hug their kids at camp, blew them off in the tunnel after a game, and acted like a jerk towards common fans when the cameras were not on.

The point is everyone has their feelings, and most are easily hurt. Maybe JC and KS had days where they didn't show someone's kid the utmost attention. That fan remembers them as a jerk, insensitive, and rude.

I find it hard to believe, with today's social media outlets, and media in general who reports when a coach takes a crap, that JC could be so rude/mea, and verbally abusive, yet no one outside of the Sooner fans who hate him know about it.

Not one report from VCU, not one from Duke, and not any from Oklahoma, other than message board fans who have made it clear they wanted the guy gone.

I have no issues with the continued attacks on his coaching abilities. He earned those and even though they grew stale months ago, most understand why some can't or won't let it die...... The personal stuff about his character, and his demeanor is pretty much unproven.

Again, it's time to let the Capel Ship sail away!!!!! LK has us in a great place, and JC is at his home school of Duke. Time to focus on the here and now and let it go. I remember many of the Sampson supporters telling the Sampson bashers the same thing..........

Wasn't good to the alumni, either. Had one former player tell me he could act nice in front of the cameras and in public for $2 million, too. Sounded like he treated the alums similar to the way some of the football coaches in the 90s did. Kruger, on the other hand, has completely embraced the past, which has really impressed the former players.

Hard to argue with the bolded part. As many know, I was not a fan of Capels. Not because of his age, IQ, skin color, or religious beliefs. My one complaint was he was not qualified to be the coach at OU and that has proven to be correct.

Like Mizzy says, he's gone so I'm moving on, particularly on the kind of stuff mentioned in this thread. If something concrete was there, then it would have come out. The Oklahoman and TW would have been all over it.

I too remember many complaining about KS and how they were treated by him at various events. My dad met him and his whole family when he first arrived in Norman and my dad swore he was one of the nicest people he'd ever met. My dad was a pretty good judge of character, so I trusted his opinion rather than some random message board person.

Maybe Capel is as some say he is, but maybe he's not. In the grand scheme, who really cares now that he's not coaching here?

Unlike the past 3 seasons, we have some positives to discuss about OU basketball in the month of March and what is everyone talking about? Freaking Capel.
