Sterling Gibbs: Should he play again this season?

He should be suspended longer than Marcus smart was for pushing the tech fan

If I was coaching the Hall he'd be gone for the remainder of this year and I'd welcome him back next year if no other issues. He also needs to apologize to the the Nova player and team.

I saw that he has apologized on Twitter to everyone, including arcidiacono personally. But no I don't think he should be playing again this season.

If it were early in the season, I would say minimum 5 games if not 7. This late in the season, I would shut him down and let him know that he is in a position to earn his scholarship for the following year ...

I'd give him 3 games. Stupid frustration foul he needs to learn from. But I've seen worse get the same or less punishment.

Sterling has some issues....should be suspended a few games and be sent to a counselor. I hate to lose, but I never thought about intentionally hurting a rival player.

No way. I dislike smart as well this is worse.

No. Not even close.

Gibbs needs to be suspended for the remainder of the season. That was awful what he did.

You have a guy that has been battling all game and is frustrated and he makes a bad mistake against another player. It's terrible and punishment should be severe. But emotions are high.

With smart, he went after fan. It is way way worse imo. anytime you make physical contact with a fan, it trumps physical contact with a player. Even if it is a punch vs a push.

It wasn't even like he was fouled hard and reacted, the NOVA player was on the ground for a loose ball. To punch a player in that position is disturbing and should be done for the year.

I disagree. There is a set rule for throwing a punch and that is what should happen. Are we going to have randomness in how things are enforced? I hate that aspect of society. One guy (lets call him Winton) gets accused of sexual assault and has no consequences. Another guy (lets call him Shannon) gets accused of sexual assault and not only loses a year, he can't even go to class or practice. Make a rule and stick to the rule.

This kid got carried away and took a cheap shot. He apologized, recognized it was totally wrong. Admitted he embarrassed himself, his friends, his family and his team. To me that goes a long way.

What Smart did simply cannot be tolerated under any circumstances and I think the punishment was about right.

it wasn't too long ago that David Godbold lost his mind in a game and stepped on a player. These things happen. Even good people make really poor decisions. To me it is all about what you do after you make a poor decision and the number of poor decisions rather than simply making a poor decision.

Shut him down for the next couple weeks, let him return for the conference tournament. When Xavier-Cincinnati fought, the schools extended bans beyond the fighting punishment because it was the right thing to do, I'm sure Seton Hall will do that here.

Taking a step back and thinking about it, I agree with this statement more than my own.

I agree with Bounce here.... going after a fan is way worse than going after a player.
