Steve Henson

He is very intense and he was a whale of a point guard back in the day. A wizard with the basketball. He could make the prettiest passes and was one of the main reasons for a lot of KSU success when Kruger coached. He was also an all conference and maybe all American decathlete.

maybe 6-8 years .. I am starting to lean that way ..

he got another stern warning from the officials last night during a first half timeout the head ref walked from the opposite baseline to tell Henson to calm down and quiet down ..

I'm still not sold on him as head coach. I think he's in the role to which he's best suited right now.

LK wont be around 6-8 years. IMO

I would give him a shot at it. Sharp guy. Of course if he was at all successful, you know ksu would come begging to come back home...so maybe not afterall.

I know KSU swept us this year, but isn't OU a better job than KSU?

That was such crap. He'd finished his argument and the ref walked all the way across the floor to continue it. Bush league.

If he becomes the HC at OU I don't think KSU would ever hire him unless they hit rock bottom. If Weber gets fired, they will go after Underwood at SFA who was an asst at KSU under the guy at South Carolina.

Lon Kruger (born August 19, 1952) is 62.
Steve Henson (born February 2, 1968) is 47.

Coach Kruger has done a wonderful job of bringing back the OU basketball program. Even at age 62, he seems to relate well as a coach/teacher of young basketball players. He seems to be having fun, so one wonders how long he will continue to coach.

With each passing year, Coach Henson is developing more ties to OU and Norman. I would have no problem with giving Steve Henson a shot at the head coaching job. I like his intensity and competiveness. His longtime mentor is Lon Kruger. He has learned from a master.

Here is another former point guard that may be a future head coach:

Based on what? I suppose KSU has better attendance at home games, but OU has better tradition. I would think that the Norman/OKC area would have more appeal to most recruits than Manhattan, Kansas.

Based on the fact that basketball is number 1 at KSU and will always be a distant second at OU
