Sounds not likely to me. E.B. White created Little in the 1920's, but it really languished as a significant cultural reference until the movie based on Little in 1999. That was after Peyton was born.

In one of her after-game interviews, Sherri mentioned that it was a Stuart Little reference and that Peyton's fellow team members gave her the nickname.

I would go with Stewart Little. I imagine the nickname came after the movie. That makes sense, to me anyway.
