If you go back and listen to the Jennie interview you heard I will bet she said we have 5 5th year seniors…Payton is a 4th year senior and as the rules are today the 8 games she played for Louisville as a sophomore count as one of her 4 years of eligibility.so Jennie had said they graduate 5 seniors after this year but there are 6 seniors on the roster. Which player has another year? Im assuming Payton because she transferred early in the season in 2022-23 and sat out. Did they red-shirt her??
Duke is Good. And the fact we were able to make it go to Overtime with us not even playing good tells me the potential this team really has. I just need to see more free throws made and less turnovers and we can compete with anyone. I also would love to see our guards pull up to the midrange a lot more often.Still have a ton to prove. 1 good team played so far, 1 not good loss, giving up almost 110 points.
I think Duke will compete with South Carolina pretty well.Duke is a good ball team, although we will find out soon HOW GOOD when they play South Carolina Thursday night. If they get blown out, then we know how much work we have to do. We really have to beat Louisville, otherwise IMO our season outlook could be questionable anytime we play a solid opponent. We just have to work on our defensive intensity on the perimeter and our TOs in order to get better. Can't make landing Beers for nothing if we just turn it over repeatedly.
Personally I think Duke is the more athletic team. And SC don’t have much more height then Duke. Probably a little height difference but not much. I have watched all of SC games so far and im not impressed with their defense at all. And tbh im barely impress with their offense atm. That game against Iowa State was just them getting revenge. I personally don’t think Iowa State is great and they are very not so athletic.I really hope so! I'd be over the moon if Duke upset them, but they don't have much height. The thing with SC is their guards are very athletic and talented, and will definitely play better defense on Duke's guards than ours did, which will probably rattle Duke. Duke had soo many open looks that they continued to hit against us. It feels like this has been our weakness for years and years, teams with talented guards that can shoot seem to have career games against our 6 feet away 'defense' on them. Hopefully with an upgrade in talent moving forward this won't continue.
Payton graduates in 3 and 1/2 years…with another year after this year she should be close (if not completed) to a master’s degree by the time she leaves OU
