I agree with you Hardy. We are strictly speaking about these players in a athletic sense, not them as human beings. Anyone taking it beyond that needs to get a grip and simmer down. It's sad but true with these girls. I don't understand why we picked up EJ, unless they saw this amazing athletic potential and the girl simply just doesn't want to put in the work to develop her game. Same thing goes with Penso, Williams and Simpson - I just don't get what the coaches saw in these girls. Simpson would be a decent player if she were 2 inches taller, the others just don't have it, and you can tell the difference in talent when we play teams like Baylor, Texas, and such. We need to go after talent and talent only, not players we hope will become better or players with "potential," because as we have seen time and time again, SC cannot develop these girls! How many duds have we had year in and year out? At least 1-2 of a 5 person class will be a dud when it comes to SC recruits and I just don't get it.

I never said I wanted to, but frankly Penzo and EJ aren't worth a tinker's damn and never have been. I cannot fathom why we ever even signed them. Reminds me of Jeffcoat and that pathetic blonde forward Sherri brought in from Florida who couldn't get on the floor and left after a year or two.

Of course, I was also being facetious just to emphasize that, in my opinion as a long time fan, this program continues, as it has for the last couple of years, to be heading south. You don't need to be a basketball coach with great X and O knowledge to see that.

Verdict is still out on Simpson. My guess is she'll get some playing time but will be strictly a mop-up player unless there are significant injuries or we continue with a short bench (another sign that things aren't going right) until she is recruited over -- which, if others on this board are correct, will be next year.

Like I said, perhaps Sherri can turn it around beginning next year and the year after and I hope Joe has put down some deliverables to her in the reviews --- because 5th or 6th in the Big 12 for a million bucks a year plus perks ain't cutting it.
